Please help I can't find the oil filter
i'm trying to change my oil but can't find the oil filter. Can someone be kind enough to let me know where it is. My car is a 2003 lancer oz.
Thank you |
look harder ;)

Looking up at the oil pan, it should be to the right.
|
u did lift the car up right? it should be very visible..
|
thanks for all your help but i'm still lost. I did lift up the car.
I found the the screw that says oil on it where is the filter from the oil screw(left, right, front, behind?) Thank You |
Up and to the right a tad. If I remember correctly, the OEM filter is black, but it shouldn't be hard to find. In fact, if you just feel around the right of the oil pan you'll more than likely bump into it.
|
it looks like a cylinder with the flat part facing towards the ground...if this is the first time the oil has been changed the filter will be black.
damn...ghostrider beat me to it!! |
if you slide under the car and face the oil pan, im pretty sure it is to your right but dont quote me on that..it should be either the left or right and not front or back..i think?

it should be in the indentation of the oil pan...somewhat like this
|
:crap: vopmms, go to your passanger side.... go behind the front tire and look up.. and bingo was his name b!tch
|
You have to bend or remove the black plastic sheilding to change it.
|
ummm did you find it yet? I sure hope you didn't have to spend the weekend at home with a car sitting there waiting. Anyway, like they said, it's on the passenger side of the oil pan, but slightly hidden by a plastic mud guard. Nice drawing Sonantoni!!
|
okay okay I got it! the plastic mud guard threw me off. Thanks for everyones help and thanks for the drawing. this forums is so helpful! i bought 10-30 oil and then read the manual so had to go back and buy 5-30. heheh.
