GSR IX's don't have HID's?
? Was thinking about replacing my VIII and heard this..
Yeah this is correct. I have an IX GSR and it didn't come with HIDs, just projector lights with halogens.
That's a kick in the nuts. Glad I figured this out before buying the car lol.
I got the same kick when I got my second IX. First IX was an MR with HIDs, and never realized GSRs didnt have them. Oh well.
if memory serves me correct gsr's with ssl should have them
I believe the only base GSR that came with HID's was the 2003, after that it was reserved for the GSR SSL, GSR SE, and MR models. I miss the HID's from my S2k but it definitely wasn't a deal breaker. You can always upgrade to the factory HID's with part-outs or just do like I did and get some good halogen bulbs and call it close.
Is the wiring there for HID's if you bought stock HID assemblies?
if you want Hid's just get the SSL ^ like buddy up there said
2003 & 2004 evo 8's came with the hid's default, after that you had to get SSL or MR
IX GSR SE has them - I use them everyday.... :D
HID kits cost less than $100 these days. You're really going to base your purchase on whether the car comes with HIDs or not?

I will never buy an MR, I road race and the weaker tranny is a turn off. SSL possibly, but man I wanted to get out of leather seats finally lol. Bump for answer on if the wiring is there for OEM hid's on the base IX. |

Yes... really ****ty HID's cost that much. Good factory HID's cost $1000. Last thing I want to do is spend 20K + and down grade.

Installing aftermarket HID bulbs and ballasts takes all of 1hour, and 45min of that is removing the bumper. |

No, some of the best 55w HID kits on the market cost $100. I would know personally.
