hey new to the site and evo's lol
so im looking into buying a evo 9 but everyone is telling me insurance is gonna be through the roof, a clutch is just under $2000 installed and that they only last 30k miles even when babied??? Also that tires are $400 a piece and last just as long as a clutch??? and the brakes new pads and rotors are 700 just for the parts??? and gets under 20 mpg??? is any of this true please cuz i really need to consider this if im gonna commit to a beautiful evo 9 :D
|
did that person have an evo themselves cause it seemed like they exaggerated just a bit too much
|
no they did not but supposedly they did their research on evo's cuz they were gonna own one lol this particular person owns a 240sx
|
if your going to own an evo you have to be ready to do maintenance because owning a sport car especially a turbo car its going to need maintenance so dont expect that everything is gonna go right all the time, if your not familiar with sport cars and spending money on maintenance this is not the car for you, maybe a corvette would be a better choice, not saying the evo isnt reliable you just gotta expect the worst all the time and have money saved up just in case something does happen.

The only thing "everyone" told you was correct was the insurance (depending on your age and driving record of course). Generally pretty high regardless. I'm sure people with multiple cars, home insurance, etc.,etc. are going to chime in and disagree. Nevertheless, the smartest thing you can do for yourself, is research for yourself. Religious maintenance is key, but not unaffordable. Don't let "everyone" fill your head with disillusions of owning an Evo. Good luck :mitsu:

a clutch is just under $2000 installed and that they only last 30k miles even when babied??? An upgraded stock replacement is ~$1200 installed and can easily last 70K in a properly driven car Also that tires are $400 a piece and last just as long as a clutch??? Can't you just look up the cost of tires yourself?? and the brakes new pads and rotors are 700 just for the parts??? ...same as above and gets under 20 mpg??? Ummm...yea... is any of this true please cuz i really need to consider this if im gonna commit to a beautiful evo 9 :D Doesn't sound like you should buy an Evo |
have an fp red setup, with 41k on the clock and still rocking the stock clutch. it all depends on how u drive the car.

Is best if you save extra cash on top of what you are willing to spend for a 9 or just buy a brand new 10 (worry free).

All true. especially if you beat on it, the car will break and you will need money to fix the things that break.
