Want an Evo, can't find the right one? Advice?
I only have around 15k to spend on an Evo. Really want a 2003 Evo 8, stock, low miles. I can't find many for that price. I am very scared to get an Evo with 80k or higher miles in fear of it breaking. It is going to be a daily driver so I don't want it off the road a lot. Also looking at possibly an SRT-4, 05 STI, or a VW r32 MK4. Any recommendations on getting an Evo daily driver with those kind of miles? If you were in my shoes and needed a car for college out of those, what would be best?

First off couple things. 1. finding an 03 evo with low miles for a low price probably won't happen. evos hold there value pretty good. 2. your in college and evos take a lot of money to maintain, so hope you have good job. On top of that you have listed a wide variety of vehicles with awd and fwd. Are you just looking for a fast car or do you REALLY want an evo. Why not just get a cheaper car and save the money you would spend to get your dream evo once your out of college. Not trying to put you off just giving some advice.

im like 95% sure u wont find an evo or sti for that price with low miles. i just sold my 05 sti with 51,000 miles for 16k and the only reason i sold it for 16k was cuz it was over heating. as for an 03 evo they will all have high mileage and or will be modded. ur better off looking for an str4 for that price. u can get a decent one for 15k for sure.

my 03 evo was 13,500 with 53,000 miles
look around and you'll find what you want |
You will maybe find a salvage title evo for that price.

Patience, you're shopping for a very particular car that there are not many of, just wait and stay active on forums, craigslist etc...

realize that even a low mile 03 is going to need some maintenance work...these cars are getting close to being a decade old.
with your spending limit you should consider higher mileage evos..do all the maintenance necessary to freshen the car up. Personally i would feel much more confidant in a higher mileage car that has just been thoroughly freshened up rather then a 9 year old car with lower miles that will have you over looking maintenance because you feel its " still new". Why do you want an evo?

Getting something else is the safe bet.

Reply to pretty much everyone. Thanks for your input, I don't just want a fast car, I want an Evo. I have a DSM and I love it, but am looking for the more updated 4g63, which is why I want an Evo. The only reason the SRT4 is in there is because it is more of a cheaper car in the same range. I have no problem getting a higher mileage one, possibly 80-90k if it is safe.

After school I plan on getting a truck for a daily driver and rebuilding the Evo so it isn't like it has to last till 200k miles before a rebuild.
