If you're using the correct abbreviation of SRI (short ram intake) then $240 is not even close to being worth it. You can get the AEM CAI for less than that. If you're going the short ram route and don't want a cold air intake, then why not just buy an adapter and filter on ebay. It's a lot cheaper and just as effective as a short ram.

i just got one for 150.00

240 for shipping and installation?..uhm why is shipping needed if they're going to install it? if its to buy the intake & install it then i guess 240 is a good price but i have no idea how much it is to install. i found that adventon was the cheapest place.

does the brand of intake really matter performance wise?

Archangelite Jan 24, 2004 04:44 AM

dude, the sri should run you 140 shipped nowadays and installation is real easy, you should do it yourself

Drive02Lancer Jan 24, 2004 09:31 AM

well im sure if u get the Ebay Adapater/Filter or the INjen SRI or the other SRI's out there...the diff would be minimal to where you wouldn't even notice...

and if you wanted you could always change the Filter on the Ebay one to a K&N or whichever you prefer.

One Ebay intake is just adapter/filter, the 2nd one is the adapter/filter and the pipe leading to the manifold.

Nothing technical here. Easy to find out by yourself. Both qualities of something that belongs in the Newbie Forum. Moving.

Yes and no. If you go to AEM's web site they are dyno provne and carb legal or carb pending. They also use rebadged K&N filters for their setups which make them even better. I don't know anything about Injen so I don't want to make any claims.

For performance, I don't think you're going to see much difference between the name brand manufacturers. They test their products and have to provide quality performance otherwise their reputation is at stake. Other knock-off brands are less likely to prove their performance gains because they don't have a reputation to hold up.
