so I've got the evo... now what
its a black and beautiful 9, runs a mild tune and 3inch turbo back, has whitelines, yoko advans and handles quite well. I've been posting here for a few months and got some great info re mods etc.
The thing is,its so original, I can't bare to start modding this beast, I read about bushes and coil over mods etc, in takes, all the 100 buck plus mods post I have read.. but as it is...it sort of does everything well already. I have pushed it quite hard in corners and it seems to rise up and down a little on hard cornering but does this justify 3 grand on Tein coil overs, probably not, could it do with a little more power, yeh probably but it still over takes cars like a jet on short straights so more power might just get me in more trouble. Anyway back to my work and enoy reading all those mod posts in the general forum {thumbup} |
Congrats on the new evo. I remember when I first got my VIII I was the same way. I drove her a bit before I decided to start modding. I wanted to familiarize myself with the car before throwing parts on her, which is what I recommend most new owners should do. Gives you a good baseline.

Get used to the car as it is now, then after a while when the car starts feeling slow to you then start modding.
|
enjoy it for now, then enjoy it more with more power!

.
I have (or had) the same situation as you. Black 9 MR, mostly stock when I bought it.
I aimed to clean up the shifting with upgraded shifter base & underhood bushings, along with a BLOX front motor mount. After that, the shifting feels soooo good. No more loose and rubbery shifting Now I've added upgraded cams, fuel pump and LICP (already came with exhaust/intake) but not sure how much further I want to go with it. It's fast enough for me at the moment.... |
Congrats on the new Evo, have fun with it.

Go drag, autocross or do a track day. It will change your perspective. Mods will make more sense
