Swapping ecu's?
 

hi everyone.... can fellow EVO 8 owners swap ecu's with each other? i heard that theres a "key matching" code in it? is this correct?

yup but you can get the dealership to reset it dunno how much it costs tho.

bascially i was wondering if i could install a flashed ecu from another car , with no ill effects...

its not going to work then :( not sure also if the reflash will get erased when they reset it to work with your keys.

Not true. The immobilizer must be set with the code resident in the ECU.

Also you can purchase the MUT tool or rent it, thus cutting the dealer out of the picture. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend on doing this. I will bet you can call around and find an independent with the tool. (I did this for another car as the independent was less money than the dealer to program a feature.)
