how's evo for just cruising?
is it a comfortable car for a long trip?
|
If you are on good roads, it is a better ride than in the city. Plus, you typically can drive it much faster on the interstate than in town...

I've driven it from Vegas to Tucson and back a couple times(about 7-8 hours each way). I think it is an awesome car for long trips. The seats are very comfortable, and the car seems to cruise just right at around 80-85. If it had cruise control it would be perfect for the open road. The only real problem is that if you do not have a boost controller to turn down the boost it would be a good idea to let the car cool down every couple of hours.

my wife and i drove for 8 hours one day - that trip was just fine. i think as long as you have good road then you're golden.

I'm really suprized that everyone has said it's comfortable. I have to agree I love it for long trips but it is riding on stiff suspension so do not take any unmaintained highways.

Like everyone else said - good roads is all it takes. Bad roads = death to your behind.

I don't think the car is build for long trips... I took my EVO for a 360 miles drive and I honestly think that the ride is not comfortable. It absorbed everything which makes the ride very bumpy... I miss cruise control...

I lifted the front of the seat bottom to give my thigh support and have driven 1000 miles in one weekend and loved every bit of it. Got over 300 miles per tank to boot.
If you see a large bump coming, press your left foot hard on the foot rest and it will lift your butt out of the seat a little so you won't take the hit. |
Very new to me, but i'd say its pretty good for the 3 hour type ride.. anything more and you wish you had cruise control. i still can't get over how connected i feel.. and i had an M3

A good thing is that the Evo's suspension beats the sh*t outta me so much that I never fall asleep in it. Good thing I'm not a passenger. {thumbup}

i actually tend to favor a not-so-smooth ride :) to me, the drive is more fun when things get a little bumpy. :D i guess its all a matter of how you percieve it. or maybe im just a weird guy {mrt} for ride comfort, i would def choose a harder suspension like the evo, and not the suspension like a benzo. i guess when things get too comfortable, it doesnt seem like your driving anymore, just feels like.....as if you were just floating across the road. :spin: i personally think its more fun in a car when the suspension is stiff, long and short drives.{thumbup}

I drive 4 hours to college and the trip is not fun at all. It gives your lower back a beating like it owes the suspension money.

Perhaps then most EVO drivers will change the suspension to something aftermarket eg: HKS HiperMax II Coil-Overs... Or something with adjustable damper and then it'd be golden?!!
