Are all Evo's UNDERCOATED from factory?
Had my '03 up on the hoist and noticed what looked like thick grease SPLATTERED on most of the underside & on certain aluminum suspension pieces. Upon closer inspection, we determined it was undercoating (and not shot on there that carefully either). The car came from Kansas and I was just wondering if that's standard or if it was possibly done by the DEALER? If I wipe on it with a wet towel, it seems to smear. Enlighten me please! :usflag:

some are from dealership.... my evo has that coating all over the wheel panels as well as little here and there on the underboy...

My car is not undercoated.. I saw the car come off the trailer as delivered and they did not ask to do anything additional.. There are some areas that have some protection on it, but not a thick undercoating.

There is some cosmolene (sp?) applied at the factory, but it's not undercoating in the traditional sense. It's nasty and sticky though; just like undercoating. It's just another type of salt/rust protection.

All evos have it
It is to protect them from the salt water they encounter while on their boat ride over here |
even a RS has this?

Ugh, I hate that grease stuff! I always get it in my hair when I'm under my car working on it. lol

I am wondering if this is cuasing the blemishes on the weightless white EVO's. I just read a post on that.
