You should never have to mount it outside the car. It works fine inside the front dash where the windshield meets. My XM works fine. I used to have a 350z and had it mounted in the "trunk" area inside, with window tint, and had no problems. Unless professionally installed like stock Audi's etc. it looks real tacky with the cheezy wire pushing under the weather striping.

thanks for the tips and the pics. appreciate it. for those that installed the antenna inside, do you have navi? did you put your navi antenna inside as well?

they make kinds for onstar that r wireless on the outside. thats a better idea and looks cleaner.
