MIVEC vs non-MIVEC on a modded car
I'm currently in the market for an evo and debating the evo VIII vs IX, the biggest difference i see is the MIVEC system, i certainly know and understand the huge advantages of a VVT system on an NA engine, but I don't see a large advantage on a forced induction engine. I don't particularly care about stock or near stock performance, the target for the car is ~400 whp, at this level of modification, does MIVEC mean anything? especially considering the price premium that used evo IX's seem to have over the VIII?
thanks in advance.

good thread in evo general about a 2.3 build up project from pruven and difference between the viii, and ix.. basically the builders will tell you the ix is the way to go.. but both can be build and made fast. its just cheaper and easier (and ultimately slightly better) with the ix. not that there is anything wrong with the viii, but new technology usually prevails.
