custom exhaust

I have a 05 evo 8, I think im gonna have an exhaust shop build a custom exhaust for me. The guy is tryin to tell me i dont need anything bigger than 2.25 inch pipe. Im everyday evo driver. would 3 inches be too much or is that the basic size for optimal gains?

three inch.
it'll let everything breathe a lot better.
make sure you go three inch all the way back and invest in a high flow 3" cat.
remember your exhaust only flows as well as your smallest point.

If it's gonna be custom, I'd say go four inches for the cat back, and definitely 3 for the dp. Also throw in a flex section!

With the many reputable manufacturers that make a tried and true proven fitting dp I would just buy one instead of having him reinvent the wheel and make one.

+1

If you dont mind us asking, how much is he charging for this custom exhaust? Because you can get some good DPs, HFCs and cat-backs now for decent prices.

And for the flex section, I usually see them in the downpipe.

+1 This is going to be the same exhaust youll be getting basically for half the price....

Custom anything isnt cheap, and exhaust are very basic so its hard to say ones better than the other to justify the extra money.

Cheers!
