State Patrols becoming Irritating!

Okay, so had my 4th head to head with WA State Patrol in 9 months. What the hell is it with these cars that attract patrols?? They are like freaking magnets. This dweeb was driving a unmarked Dodge Charger. I looked for the roof bristling with antennas but only saw one. The steel rims should have given it away but to my detriment I ignored them. Passed him in the HOV lane then pulled right and away from him to far right. That was all it took. I asked him where are all the antennas on the roof mounts? He replied "Our tech is improving all the time" (add **** eating grin on his face). So.. another $136 ticket and now another $350 to my attorney to get me out of it. These guys are really obnoxious sons of *****es.

Is it me or does any one else here see a direct correlation between driving these cars and getting pulled over?

Been driving my X for 3 years and the Ralliart for 7, been pulled once in the Ralliart for exhaust. I think it's more of an issue that the cars get noticed more, and if you're noticed breaking the law, well....

I never got more drama than when I had my EVO. They don't even blink when I am driving like something out of GTA in my M2 but that EVO OMG STOP THEM NOW. Really weird...

If you don't want to get stopped for breaking the law maybe don't break the law? (Yes yes we all speed to some extent). I have only been pulled over once in the Evo in 5 years but no ticket. My driving habits are pretty tame compared to some. I doubt it has anything to do with the car you have attracting attention, it probably has more to do with the way you are driving.

This is actually an interesting question. I bet it's not a direct correlation. Make take on it is like this. The Evo attracts more aggressive drivers because of the kind of car it is. You then look at the population of Evo drivers and on average they are probably more likely to get pulled over. However it is not the car itself directly causing this.

A single person's anecdotal evidence isn't really much to go on. People who have noticed getting more tickets in the Evo may be more likely to respond to a thread like this.

what Dewey said. it's not the car. it's usually the driver.

If it was during HOV Times or if it was solely an HOV lane and you passed him in that then yeah you probably should have been given a ticket. When I had my first Evo I probably should've been pulled over more than I was because I used to get on it a lot. But I had my handy dandy Escort 3500 which let me know when threats were coming up These days I am driving an X in Germany and it's kinda loud to their standards and have been followed a few times by the police, not pulled over yet though, lol... Good luck and try to pay closer attention I guess, haha...

Well, the issue that I did not post was the fact an 18 wheel container semi had over turned and spilled it's load all over an exit ramp which in turn blocked up traffic because state patrol closed off the ramps in every direction near the incident so every lane was full including the HOV in order to get passed the incident. My ticket was for not.. as he stated "correcting my self" (really?) I always use mirrors, observation, indicate then maneuver. He said it's not breaking the law to use the HOV to navigate an accident. His gripe was I didn't "correct my self" faster. The fact was there was no where to pull into because in the usual passive aggressive WA state, every one drives with a 2 feet gap between cars and no matter how hard I tried to move right, no one would let me in. The patrol guy took the only available slot to the right. I looked way down the road and the traffic was freeing up so hoofed it to get the break and when it was finally safe to move over I did. That it is the truth, the whole and nothing but the truth.. your honor!

Now this was taken at least an hour after it happened so traffic is moving faster now.

Well man, I guess your argument could be "I didn't feel safe to transition over until I did..." not quite sure how he can honestly state when you deemed it was safe to get back over and "correct yourself." That's his opinion really....

What a ***** - sounds like he had car envy and didn't want to be reasonable. You can clear this easily in court this is so silly I can't believe he wrote you a ticket. Like it's your fault people are *******s - that's what the HP is for to juke them and laugh at them in the rear-view.

After he gave me the ticket, I took a GOOD look at his patrol car ( He started getting nervous at this point and babbling on about how the car conforms to RCW etc, he is uniformed, the car is clearly lighted correctly signifying the blues and reds... and I didn't even ask him or pass comment on any of it, he just saw me looking hard at his car and got hot under the collar) Then I saw a some kind of a necklace dangling down from the rear view mirror. I said.. "what is that dangling down from your mirror that is clearly obstructing your field of vision?" He replied.. "I'm an islander (Hawaii) and that is my culture" I repeated... "That is interfering with your field of vision through the front windshield. Grossly unprofessional and if I were you I would remove it. Its a distraction and again, unprofessional" He replied "It's my heritage, and I can see right through it, so it's not blocking my field of vision. Any other questions sir?" I was about to grill him on his stopping distances. He was yet again less than 6 feet off my *** end during the entire drama. But I decided enough was enough.

Yeah you got car envy pulled over. Oh well, he's a glorified meter maid so after you beat this lame **** in court and waste your time you will always have that going for you.

just sounds like he was gonna give you a ticket. thats pretty much the course for WASP, if you get pulled over by them, you're getting a ticket. doesn't matter what car you drive. WASP is the only LE agency in the state that officially has a quota. Although technically the quota is to have 10 interactions per work day (according to a cop I talked to), but unofficially I'm sure its 10 tickets a day.

only time I got pulled over in my Evo was 2 days after I got it, I passed a cop going about 80 (167 N for locals) that I didn't notice. didn't even get pulled over for the next 3 years or so I had the car. I don't remember if it was a WASP or just a local cop that happened to be on the highway though.

Yeah.. I am begging to think the same way. One of the reason's I got the MR was it was more discreet than the GSR.. at least that's what I thought. Just a little duck tail spoiler on the trunk. But when you start to add on Exhaust Heat Shields, mud flaps, window tints, side wind deflectors, sport wiper blades..(and that is just for warm ups) it starts to look a little... well.. not that unnoticeable any more. And I thought those were tasteful upgrades. What happens when the OEM aero kit goes on and I get AR casting Excalibur alloys on and and real sport exhaust? I can only see things getting worse.
You know, the more I think about it, the more insane it is. Last month I was coming on the I5 on ramp and a guy in a beautiful black Ferrari was right behind me on the ramp. He kept his distance... then once we joined N bound he acted like a complete idiot. Blasted by me at full RPMs.. engine wailing, cut up at least 4 people to get ahead of me.. it was ridiculous. I just
kept going 65mph.. then another guy cut me off from passing, so I took the left lane and looked over at him. He gave me the finger then tried to carve me into the crash barrier. I had to accelerate flat out to save my *** and keep the car in one piece. It's like you've got a bulls eye on you when you drive these things around here.

Can you imagine having an FQ400 over here? I actually emailed a dealer in the UK to get a price and what it would take to import one. That car in Red would be a nightmare to drive here. I'm thinking it may not such a wise idea. I mean just look at this... I love it, but I'd get so much grief driving it, more tickets for car envy, psycho's trying to cut you up.. I'd have to leave it in the garage and just look at it

I find the stock look keeps them away and anything lowered or wide looking attracts them, over here slammed cars are defected right off the road
