In the market...

So ive been in the market for an 8 or 9, preferable a gsr, but im finidng that alot of Evo have a ton of owners. Is this normal or should i try to stay from ones like this and find a one or two owner?

The car is at least 12 years old. I don't know many people that have kept a car that long, so it's very likely the have passed through a few hands, especially when they were all the rage.

Hey, first off, Welcome Aboard

Yeah, these cars are tuner / project cars, so Yes, I can see them change hands at a higher rate than your std daily driver

The EVO is getting long in the tooth @ 15 years old. Prices have appreciated for sure. I can sell my EvO for what I paid for it 10 years ago

Not too concerned about the ownership as I am w/the condition of the sheet metal & the mechanicals

If you have a link, we would be happy to give you our opinion

Joe

I wouldn't worry about number of owners. Like the others said, multiple owners is to be expected at this point, especially given the age and the type of vehicle it is.

these are two near me that have sparked my interest. Im shooting for as close to 100k miles as i can, and about as stock as possible. Thanks for any input!

They both look good in their own ways. The Grey one has a bit more in the way of curb appeal, but the White looked OK as well

The biggest issues are having a clean, rust free chassis. Both EvOs appear to have stock motors w/100K miles. When you roll into an EvO at this stage, be prepared / accepting of a potential mechanical in the future

You could have have a Pre-Buy inspection done, checking compression, suspension, chassis ETC

The biggest thing you want to be searching for is RUST.

Depending on where you live if you value your car, and want to keep it for a long time - you better make sure its free of rust.

Checked out the white one today and looked legit, drove real nice, only bummer was the RF fender had been replaced back around 2007. The carfax for the white one did show minor damage back then so id assume thats what it was from. The white one was down south until 2012 when it was brought up here, and the gray one was down south up until 2016 when it was brought up here. Overall it looked super clean underneath from what i could see. A little bit of surface rust here and there on the "frame" underneath but nothing drastic. Hoping to look at the gray one on Wednesday and then hopefully be able to make a decision if both are still available

Looks pretty good for sure. Yeah, it looks like an RS except the door handles are painted white vs RS black. No rear wiper. Just making sure you have crank windows & no ABS? Check the roof (must be alum vs steel). You have the EvO8 wheels as well

A lot of us RS owners hang out here. Post up when you can please
