Hi there! I’ve been experiencing head-lift issues with my Evo IX. My block hasn’t been oring, and I don’t want to oring it. Currently, I’m using ARP L19 Headstuds paired with SCE Vulcan Cut Ring Gasket. I’m boosting 35 psi and using pumped gas. Could you recommend a recommended setup to prevent head-lift? My current bore is 86.5 mm, so the OEM gasket won’t fit.

Long story short I thought my TOB failed on the freeway months ago. No real stress, no pull, no track, just driving. I thought maybe that or the clutch disc gave out as it was time to change. Prior to this though every was working and grabbing as normal. ACT HD. I got home by rev matching, and never letting the car stop at any light. I knew the trans was fine, because I could do this, and engine was fine, so it had to be something in the clutch assembly.

When I finally got it apart at home, the TOB would not release. I deduced that whatever broke was also holding on to the input shaft. However, the behavior was normal. I pushed the fork all the way by hand and then flipped the release with a flat head, and it seemed lose. However, I had to fight the unit to get it off the engine. When I did, the clutch fork pin holders in the case were broken off.

I figured, I did that, but when I inspected all of the otehr parts, nothing was wrong. Clutch was fine, worn but good for many more miles, flywheel good, pressure plate good. all bolts good, TOB in perfect condition. nothing wrong. The only thing amiss was the case's pin holders.

Does anyone know if those holders can fail over time. Is that a thing? This was a 'Core' case i got years ago when I had the trans built by ShepTrans. I believe the trans is good, and has relatively few miles on it. I just need a new bellhousing, but its very hard to find. Does anyone have any ideas or can guide me to where I could get a bell housing for the 6 speed.

Thanks!

So thinking the worst and time is of the essence...any recommendations on a replacement head source?
Our combo is quite mild with an Evo 9 turbo, GSC Stage I cams, good intake, and Super Drager exhaust...but the future may hold something greater.

Nonetheless, we'd like to see the valve contact as an opportunity for upgrades. Not being well versed in Mitsubishi performance...we have heard of Cosworth and Buscher. Cosworth CNC heads haven't been available for years, but Buscher still seems to offer a 8/9 head. Not sure if that works on a 5...had the impression they are interchangeable.
We'll probably go with the full port/polish...might be worth 5-20 hp, no?

Welcome any suggestions/options...thanks!
