Is the only "1000" number real for the MR?

The dealer is telling me most of these will be marked up a few 1000 over MSRP, mainly because of that magical 1000 number. I remember they put an artifical limit on the WRX when it first came out, only to **** people offwhen they made a ton more. Just curious if it's real, since that affects, at least in my mind, whether MSRP is a good deal or not (he'll sell it to me for that).

They're hasent been any official releases from Mits that I recall that give a solid number of MR's to be produced and sold, only thing i've heard is "Limited".
It will be a low production vehicle for sure but they'll make enough to satisfy demand.

My dealer here in Maryland was only able to get two MR's. He has been trying to get more, but apparently there aren't anymore available since the magic number is 1000. He said all the dealers in the U.S. have already accounted for the 1000. So as it stands now, from what I have heard and read, it will only be a 1000 unless Mitsu. decides to make more.
It'll be surprising how many they actually sell it the suggested msrp is really about 35k. There were barely able to get rid of the 03s at msrp and were alot cheaper. You still see some of them sitting in dealer lots.
I think left over 03' evos are just due to greedy dealers bad decisions. if you know the new models are coming its best to liquidate the older cars, and just buy new inventory. kind of reminds me of the dealership i originally went when i was shopping for an 04' RS back during summer. I fully well knew the 05's were just around the corner, and they did too. But they still didn't want to make a deal w/ me, so I walked away. They still had their GSR EVO's marked up $2,000. I'm pretty sure they sold them by now, but that's the mentality that keeps 03's on the lots. The demand for the car is there, it's just EVO buyers are more enthusiastic and knowledgeable than your average consumer. Most know and care when the new features are coming out and choose to wait.
I feel fortunate to get MSRP. Although, I am having really tough time swallowing the price. I sold my pride and joy (1997 GSX) to get it so I am locked and loaded for bear. I guess the limited additon thing makes it a little easier. I think the thousand number or even 1200 is going to change once the first lot is sold. it is not limited anywhere else in the world, so we shall see.
I just put money down for MSRP with my dealership here. Although the 1000 are already aloted he called and confirmed that more could be made and delivered within 90 days of order. Thats where the extra 200 come into play
I happen to live in the town with the Mitsubishi Plant in it. Our plant gets all the cars going to the east coast and puts those annyoing 7 miles on them you get with the car. However, there is one plus side. I was cruising at around 90 on the Mitsubishi Motorway (road directly infront of the sea of cars) and i look at them and see 250-300 Evo MR's all with the little roof vortex generators and BBS wheels on them. That had to be the most beautiful thing i had ever seen. More are expected to be there, total number of about 550 will go to the east coast alone. This according to my friends dad, VP of General operations at the plant. Might go back tomorrow and take a picture of the Sea of evo's and show you guys.
