...if that's the case then it would explain Mitsu not wanting to sacrifice the AYC in both the Evo X & the Ralliart X... since the "simpler" technology clause may scrape that altogether & maybe any lancer that'll have AWD may be too advanced for this. Which reminds me, which is how would Subaru & their AWD implementations deal with this since they're not whispering of doing what Suzuki & Mitsu is.
I was kind of thinking that when I first read it awhile ago...

anyone who follows any motorsport with even a glimmer of interest can see that the motorsport world is in a huge process of change right now . sponsorship dollars are becoming harder and harder to come by , which pales in comparison to manufacture dollars and involvement . both manufactures and sponsors are starting to realize that they are not getting the return on their investment . Anyone who has owned a Mitsu for any length of time should have seen the writing on the walls for years . At the end of the day our factory produced "rally" cars are SO far from a FIA built rally car it's not even funny . We should just be happy that a "X" version of the Evo is even being produced !
Future is called: IRC

And even if this statement turns out to be true, it would only mean Group A. Mitsu is heavy in the Group N PWRC and places 1st - 2nd pretty much every time. And Group N is where the Evo is used. So we still got our rally evo thing going on. Not sure about the X though when that comes out. Anyway, ...02 cents.
i could hardly see the evo X being in a rally event, its too "civilized" besides that the evo X is the last evo to be put into production anyway...we are living everyday in evo history since we drive them...im just happy im driving one of the greatest cars to ever be produced in the world
given the direction of the other manufacturers that participate ind WRC and IRC, it would make more sense for Mitsu to run a hatchback (perhaps a Colt? or a shorter wheelbase of Evo) in rally competition. Look what Subaru is doing with its Impreza...Back when Toyota was in WRC, they switch from Celica to Corolla hatch when they realized that that can run most stages at least a few seconds quicker in a smaller lighter Corolla.
they got out as a factory team because the new WRC technical standards.
Privat teams will run the car because they have little bit more room to play with.
This is what i think. Other wise, they can throw out they new S-AWC. Wich is including alots of technical advantige : ACD-AYC-ASC-ABS. So the question is: its worth to stay in the game as factory a team and throw out years of engeneering?
Or give it out to Privat teams?

yep, that is why they do not want to make extra spendig to stay into the rally as a factory team. You will see how many evo will run there with factory back up,but not offical factory team. Just like many other manufacturer will do... Because the new law's.
just like suzuki .They build the car and looks like they can't use it.
