Guys i would rather be refered to as a "Man racer" in a EVO X ............ than a "Boy racer " in a EVO 9

On a serious note both these cars are Awesome in their own ways , and most drivers depending on their skills couldnt even get to 7/10ths of the cars potential on or off the track .

Cheers
Michael

0-60 in 5.2 and the quarter mile in 13.8@100mph? WTF is that? Thats about what a new WRX with 70 less hp is going to run. They really fu**ed this car up

I couldnt give a **** less what time it runs on a race course because I live in the real world and will never happen upon a race course driving around! Might as well go get that Charger SRT8 I have been looking at, even at 4150 pounds it will still beat the Evo X. Stupid Mitsubishi.

its funny seeing all the guys on here that are fussin about 0-60 in 5.0 and a 13.8 1/4. The last time I went to the track, most of the stock sti's and evo's were hitting low 14's high 13's. I know its a drivers game. but damn.

Thanks, but I was just expressing a view point. I wasn't bashing it, just pointing out my observations, and the bottom line for me is that I'm reserving my final judgment until I see what happens with the X, but the looks have chalked one up on the "No" board for me. That is a factor for many people - how their vehicle looks.

When you see me in an X, and I wave -- will you wave back?

edit: I'm sigging that. Try to remember what it's all about, people.

Sorry for the double post, but that just made me think about this another way.. the X might not be as quick, but with that auto trans, I bet their times are much more consistent. Good for brackets.

IDK, it just bugs to think they decelerated the car when Subaru is beefing theirs up. If rally design isn't the purpose of the EVO anymore, maybe an engine change is needed, but they need to move on from the 2.0L displacement and go 2.3-2.5-3.0 or something.

For those of you guys that call us haters...what makes you like the X so much? For majority of us...we don't like the X because of its looks...its weight...and the new engine that nobody knows much about...Bottom line is...if the new X was branded as a galant or a mirage it would be a nice car...but having it branded evolution simply raises red flags everywhere since the car resembles nothing of what the past eVo's did...

why do you say it doesnt resemble an evo? it has wider fenders, a FMI, a large rear wing, an agressive front bumper, a vented hood

how is that not what makes the appearance of an evo compared to the previous ones? the 7-9 dont look much like the 4-6 or 1-3 either, so i dont know what your point is

i like the evo x because it looks nice, seems better made, and is a good handling car. i could care less about how the sti has more power (even tho the usdm numbers arent out yet, and the sti always had more hp than the usdm evo)

You just bit your tongue there....if nobody knows much about the engine, then why the majority of the people are saying Mitsu is stupid because they are changing the engine. Maybe give it some time for the public to really see if it was a wrong move or not.

The IX and VIII are both heavier than previous generations too, again why is this an issue if they claim the X is faster than the IX and VIII on the track is actually true.

And "looks" are all subjective, so I don't have a thing to say about this. Some may find the X looks better than your IX......I like either one of them.

Wont really matter once BMW puts that twin turbo 300hp/300tq 135i out this spring. Lighter than both the X and STi and if the 335i at 150lbs heavier does 0-60 in the high 4s and low 13s in the quarter, the 135i will do it even faster. Its going to be right about the same price as the X and STi too, I am taking the BMW easily. Mitsubishi really screwed up.

unfortunately, stock 135, eventhough with same engine and lighter than 335, will be detuned and slower than 335, but it will be a good starting point for tweaking, same thing with the evoX though
