the 0-100mph is worse!!!

From the Evo 9, 12,6s to the Evo X 13,8s as C&D test.

The rule is: decrease the weight, increase the power and not make it fatter, slower and ugly.

the thing you dont realize is that the weight is what is slowing it down. the gsr model weighs 3344 lbs if i remember. the stock VIII's and ix's were right around 3200 right? so there is your extra quartermile and 0-60 times.

the thing i am stoked about is how much easier it will be to take weight out of the x

the exhaust must weigh 100 lbs and with a single exit setup you could burn the lbs easy

the interior is ultra lux and i think you could get this car down to 3000lbs quite easy then it will beat the previous evos

man only if you are right i would love that single exhaust? how would that be possible with the rear diffuser and everything?

E39a Galant owners probably didn't like the fact WRC rules changed and Mitsu had to go with a "smaller" car to compete in the WRC. The 4G63 being put into a smaller, less solid, cheaper car and whatever negative they could of pointed out.

Then....

Wow..the 4G63 in the more lighter Lancer, its faster and more nimble. The Evo 1-3 owners were living in bliss. Then the news of the new chassis Lancer Evo..more heavier with a new 4G63, but transversed. They probably said the Evo 4-6 was heavier, bigger, and new unknown technology that may of been intimidating. So they stated their negatives on the new chassis Evo

then....

Amazing...the new 4G63 is more powerful and responsive. The stiffer chassis and improve suspension and braking makes the car more appealing, introduction of the twin scroll turbo. Super AYC and Active Yaw control makes these generation Evo's more superior to its competitors. Evo owners of these generations were living in bliss. Then the news of the Evo 7...they probably stated the negative. The Evo 7 being much more heavier,, not as aggressive looking, more bigger and any other negative attribute that could be pointed out.

Then....

Unbelievable..the Evo 7-9 is amazing on corners, faster, a bit more refined, etc etc. Continued to evolve..with addition to a 6 speed tranny, aluminum panels, aerodymanic improvements, MIVEC unitlized, etc etc. What else could be better? Then news of the Evo X...more heavier,no more 4G63, drastic design, slower in the straights, etc etc

Geez...seems like there is a pattern. The Evo is "evolving" and give it a chance.

4-G-rim hit it on the head. I remember reading these boards in the winter of 2002 & spring of 2003 as the Evo 8 rumors flew around. one of the most common topics was the weakness of the 4G63, and it's tendency to crank-walk. those notions ended up being pretty flawed.

I know a ton of people who thought the 1st wave of Evo 8s to his US soil were junk (myself included) but the engine wasn't an issue for any Evo owners that I knew.

Absolutely a step back. I hate the front as it seems like every manufacturer has a huge grill these days. The rear is hideous as the dual tailpipes are put so close to each other in addition to the boring taillights that destroys the look. There are only 2 models offered in the United States, the GSR and MR. A manual will only be available in the GSR while the MR will only get the 6 speed automatic. Mitsubishi has gone too soft for this new Evolution series. Mitsubishi must put a standard manual in its MR if I am to buy one. Does this new model drive better than an evo 9, without driving the x, probably but that doesn't mean that the car is better overall.

For some reason I don't think the US will be seeing the rear diffuser on the X...I think that will be a popular upgrade just like the current iX JDM bumper...

OK...but how about the fact that the new look of the X just looks like crap IMO...I think that is the biggest issues that people have is that the X does not look as aggressive as the previous models...I don't care what you say about people always acting like this when the new model comes out...if the car looks ugly I'm not gonna buy it no matter how technologically advanced it is...stick to the basics and try not to please anyone and everyone...that was fist mistake when designing the X...its a crowd pleaser at best...
