I'm guessing a fully loaded GSR will be between 35-36k while a fully loaded MR will be between 39-41k

Not exactly correct. The Japanese RS costs $25.5k in US Dollars, and the lowest GSR is $29.8k.

So $30k is almost certainly out for a GSR. If you compare the Japanese prices for the Galant to their USDM counterparts, it doesn't look good. Each model appears to be about $4-5k more expensive here. I can't read Japanese so I can't tell if they're exactly the same models, so I just used the cheapest and most expensive model offered in both locations that weren't obviously different. The icons were useful.

The most relevent thing is probably that Japan's GSR Performance Package TC-SST model, mostly likely the USDM's MR variant, is just under $4k more expensive than the base GSR.

With this info, I'd guess GSR at $33k-35k and MR at $37k to 39k. Anything less and we really lucked out. I hope we do.

A lot of that has to do with the weak US Dollar vs the Yen.

THE US DOLLAR ISN'T WEAK!!!

....JUST ...just

flabby & out of shape

*sigh* ok... guess 40k for the MR will have to suffice seeing how the GT-R appears to start off @ 60k +

Exactly!! 50k is ridiculous! I wonder how long it will take them to start selling it at a reasonable price, without the outrageous mark- up?

Dealerships were trying to do the same thing when the VIII came out. I believe MMNA had to step in and curtail some dealerships who were trying to sell VIIIs, pre-leather, pre-MR, for over 40k. I bet the same thing happens this time around. Probably after 6 months you'll be able to find a MR for under or right at 35k.

Fed strategy is cut rate, more liquidity, to lower the dollar, reduce foreign debt, turbo charge export,
cut current account deficit, etc etc.
The downside is inflation, we consumers and average wage earners suffer.

But does this have anything to do with the price of X here?

the evo doesn't made in the states . so the dollar is down, the price go up.
100 yen =1 dollar before,
80 yen = 1 dollar approx. now, thats one reason the price up. simple .

I have found dealers to be liars so I would not put any weight on that. I expect the new Evo X to be extremely close in price to the IX. Mitsubishi can't afford to over charge for the Evo and I would not even pay mark up ever. It's never worth the money. I bought my Evo VIII 2 weeks after it came out for $130 over invoice, so don't be stupid and let the dealer hype you.

True, and all cars are still cheaper here than anywhere else in the world.

if it turns out to be 50k it'll be the dealers doing ,not mitsu, the last thing mitsu would want is to not sell their cars....
