Mitsubishi Mirage...EVOLUTION?!
seems like the "evolution" name will be extended to more than just the LANCER:

Actually, Pajero was once under the Lancer series.
People called it "Dakar Lancer".
Lancer is a great brand.
The problem with most people is that they think the "Lancer" is under the "Evolution" series
However, "Evolution" is just a line under the "Lancer".
In fact, the first famous car that Mitsubishi made was a rally car called "Lancer". EVO exists at a later time only.
I don't see why the name "Evolution" can not put into this series. It just mean that this specific version of car is the fastest one in it's series just like the Lancer EVO does.

exactly, "evolution" just denotes a trim. it isn't reserved for the LANCER. it's just like a "DE" or "ES" or "LS" trim. but not every model has an "evolution" trim available. just like not every model has a "ralliart" trim available.
we've become comfortable in equating "evo" with the LANCER...which is understandable because it's the only vehicle with the "evolution" trim available in the US.

this car will inherit a name from MPV (Space Star) in Europe. That might mean that Mitsubishi might actually make another small hatch in Europe to be successor of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubi...2.E2.80.932012
But the regular Lancer is also a beautiful car when you compare with other cars on the road especially when it first appear.
Whoa whoa whoaaaaaa. I understand that's your opinion, but come on now. The Lancer doesn't look like s***, it's obviously less aggressive looking than the X, but that doesn't mean it looks s*****. I think the Lancer is one of the more attractive DD's out there.
