Thats true but it is enough work and different from the rest of the world that it is unlikley to be a mistake in the system.

Oh.....yeah, that is what I have been trying to tell everyone. I just don't see why they would stick it in there and not use it. Because all the part numbers come up in reynolds for the differential. Even all the parts internally too.

Technical question: How does the S-AYC work? Does it simply modulate the ABS to correct under/oversteer situations or does it also (or instead) manipulate the torque going to the left and right wheels (back only? front and back?)? I can't seem to find a clear description anywhere. Thanks in advance.

In Japan I believe the Enkeis are standard and the BBS wheels are optional.

Really! So you're saying that the ACD resevoir and pump couldn't be in the place of the intercooler sprayer bottle? Okay, I believe you...right. What's your source for this information?

I have glasses. Thanks for you kind PM but I have no regrets and do not apologize.

All I am saying is that the drawing had to be recreated it is not just dropped in by mistake. That does not mean that SAYC is coming either. The fact that no Evo has yet had a differential pump in the front of the car is still true. The VII & VIIIs share the rear pump to supply both active diffs. See the enclosed chart.

I have a MR on order so either way with or with out SAYC would be fine. SAYC just gives more tuning options.

Instead of operating like the brake-based stability control systems in use now on many vehicles, the S-AYC system reads numerous sensor inputs and actively alters the torque split in the rear differential to match the car's trajectory to the driver's desired driving line.
The 2005 Acura RL (3.5L, 300hp, AWD) will have a similar active torque transfer system named SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive).

Thanks, ru4real....much appreciated. Do you think this improvement over the ABS approach will be noticed anywhere besides the track?

It depends on how hard you drive!
I haven't driven an Evo equipped with S-AYC, but I expect that unless you drive in a way that induces significant understeer or oversteer, then the system isn't too noticeable.

It applys a velocity split. The SAYC provide a larger split than AYC.

It has more capacity to effect steering and handling of a car than something that just locks or unlocks. It is closer to a 4 wheel steering system than what other companies call a yaw control.

The mechanical layout is more complex than an straight torque differential too.
