I think the new 05's may have Yaw control
I am not 100% sure here...but to me this looks like yaw control. I looked it up on the net to see how it works and to me this fits the descrption. The rear diff. has a hydraulic unit on it just as described in the articles I read on the internet. Please someone correct me if I am wrong here. This is directly from the mits parts cataloging. Here it is.....

I know I found that odd...but when I was looking through the catalog this was there...and that wasn't on the previous evo catalog. Then I looked it up on the net. It said in a few articles I found that it is a hydraulic unit that helps send torque to the correct wheels when cornering....or something along those lines. I kinda knew what it was but wanted to make sure I wasn't posting something wrong. But if someone can clarify this for us from over seas or that may have an evo 7 that would be wonderful!!

Just having the part number mean you can order it, right? so anyone could purchase this and install in on an 03/04 Evo as well, no?
|
That looks like AYC. Is this from the US catalog? Now i'm wondering which car has S-AYC. Perhaps an option for the MR? That would be a hard decision :(
|
yes that is from the US catalog....i know I didn't see it before but I was looking in the wrong area.
|
ok I looked it up the part number is MN168621 and pricing here looks like $1716.81...now this is just the price for the pump. Not all the parts that make it work in the diff.

Maybe the silence is :mitsu:'s way of paying back Subaru for the 2.5L STI.

Thanks for the info favre95. :)
That definitely looks like AYC or S-AYC. Could be a mistake in the catalog or maybe Mitsu found somewhere to relocate the ORVR (On-board Refueling Vapor Recovery) system. Actually now that I think about it... Mitsu said the Intercooler sprayer has been deleted. Maybe they moved the windshield washer reservoir to the engine bay (where the intercooler spray reservoir was) and put the AYC reservoir in the passenger side cubby hole in the trunk. Normally the AYC reservoir is in the driver side cubby hole in the trunk, but the US requires the ORVR system which occupies the same space as the AYC reservoir and associated hardware. Hmm.... EDIT: And after looking at the picture again that favre95 posted, the reservoir looks like it's located on the passenger side. Sweet. It certainly looks like the US is indeed getting the S-AYC! {thumbup} |
Now let me state this....this is NOT FAKE!!!...this came right out of the catalog!!!.....Too many people think that stuff like this is fake....not to mention any names..you know who you are!! But, this is indeed from the catalog! All the part numbers come up in reynolds too. So...take it as you will! I highly doubt they will not be including this when the 03 and 04 catalog had no pump attached to the diff....but think about this....now it makes sense on why they are getting rid of the IC sprayer!

Just for reference, here's a picture of the AYC reservoir on the VII that erikgj posted a while back. |
Well crap, just when I almost decided to get myself an 04, it looks like we're getting AYC on the MR? Man.. theyre not making my decision easy.
|
god i hope you guys are right. *fingers crossed* september can't come soon enough.

thanks for the picture rax.....they get rid of the IC sprayer...leaves an empty space to move the washer bottle up front...then mount the AYC reservoir where the washer bottle was.
Then when mitsubishi said they removed the IC sprayer ......"Dropped for all models, due to packaging for the ACD".....Because the Yaw control and the ACD work in conjunction with each other. There are five sensors on the car for this system.....So they were kinda hiding this from us. Not telling us the whole story is my guess to lay one on Subaru. |
