Effects of E-85
I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to run E85.. Its sad that conversions are falling into the laws that govern "Tampering", but if it becomes available, my car will be running it more than the few simple experiments I had tried in the past..
If your going to start to try and monkey around with e85 here are five rules of thumb.
#1) You must have fuel control
#2) You must have a wide band start at 10.5 to 1 then work towards 11.2
#3) You must have a decent amount of room left in your injectors to richen it up
#4) Before you start making pulls richen it up by 25% vs 93 octane settings.
#5) At first try a 30% e85/ 70% 93 mix. This will give you a 96 octane, won't be harmfull to seals and such, and will still have a close weight to gas so it won't need as much injector.

Thanks.
Thanks.

E85 is actualy 105 octane, but if you don' t have a wide-band, or aren't keen on tuning I second Ludikraut's post. Because it's so much lighter of a fuel you can't just dump it in without re-tuning it.
I actually have 1000cc injectors with a Stock ECU and GT35r turbo.. The stock ECU injector drivers mean I can run 780-880cc injectors, but I chose to go with 1000's with the expectation of running E85 in the next few years.. Now with ECUFlash capabilities, it makes perfect sense that someone with access to E85 to try it.. No word up here in the Northeast, and the only E85 up here is either what I had brought in to test on my honda a few years back, and some government sites have been testing it.
I know 2 people that are running a mix of 15-20% E85 right now. One is on stock turbo and the other is a 60 trim with 880s. The second one adjusted his tune while the stock turbo did not. He did say that his gas mileage went down.

I also have a feeling that it will be hard for either a police officer, or an emissions station, to notice the larger injectors on an E85-powered vehicle. Whereas running without a cat is generally quite obvious.

In Tucson, There is an EVO converted to E-85. He has the Apex turbo kit and 880cc injectors. Tuning stopped at i think 25 PSI and 420HP due to 100% duty cycle. The Tuner does Mustangs with 1000HP e-85 motors with AEM's. He says under normal driving, you consume 15% more fuel and under high boost as much as 40% more fuel. He told me to get 1000cc injectors and he would re-tune me and save me a grip of money on the Super gt-plus Sunoco i buy......I was on the verge of doing it, but my ignition wont stay steady past 26psi.......

I have been running E85 in my honda now for 3 years it works great with the turbo.

(kidding kidding!)I'd love to get drunk on the same chemical that powers my car. Gotta love multi-purpose fuels!
