UTEC detonation QUESTION
UTEC detonation QUESTION
I have a 2005 Evo GSR
just installed UTEC today
have detonation problem on 2 or 3rd gear
the Cell light would start to flash around 3k - 4k rpm
and pass 4k it will stop
I'm using the Turbo XS Stage 1 map. (no changes)
what should I do at this point
how many degrees retard should do to the timeing at 3k-4k RPM ?

If you don't have a wideband its difficult to know why your getting detonation.. Is your boost spiking, is there too aggressive timing, is it too lean.. you need to log data with a wideband installed to be certain.
HOWEVER, I suspect its a combination of boost and a lean condition which means you should be adding fuel, but you really need to do this with adequate instrumentation.

I would say that for the time being, you should be running in MAP0 and logging lots of data.. then if you don't have the wideband and experience, you should have it tuned by a tuner.

Generally you see a slight lag in the signal of the Mod Maf reading from the MAF reading.. if the values are significantly different, then it could be scaling is enabled.. But since your in MAP0, its really just the lag of the signal.. if you look the value of the MOD MAF is generally one "Step" behind.. It has no affect on the engines performance unless the "Value" is significantly different for a long duration..
