4th gear log - 91 octane gas - cone air filter intake - 272i/264e cams, hall mbc
2 questions:
1 - Is turbo running out of breathe?
2 - Why is ECU wanting to run -ve timing when there is no knock?
Any suggestion for improvements?

1. turbo runs out of breathe just because it does. The turbo is pumping as much as it can and can't keep up with the air demand so it must drop psi.
2. Indeed you have an awesome afr curve. Timing is a bit shaky on the bottom but still pretty clean after 4300. I have no idea why the ecu wants to run negative timing, that happens to me too.
Edit: i took a look at the afr again and it could dip into the 11's a bit sooner. Around 3300 is where 11's should start.

I think its because it keeps trying to unsucessfully pull timing a few degrees at a time until its negative..
And that AFR curve is almost identical to mine.. Timing is good too, especially for 91 octane though I think you can get another degree or two out of it at higher RPM

They are stock injectors. And i agree, a little more timing on top. We ran out of time. Ime an old fart and around 11pm its bedtime!!! We will finish off his tune next tuesday nite!!!! I suggested to him maybe the 20g turbo. Might hold a solid 23/25 PSI. Waiting to see. Also will be installing Meth soon. Car runs 10 times better than before. I have no idea why his ECU wants all that neg. timing either. I was thinking a faulty knock sensor, but we are just not seeing any knock. When the AFR's were at 12.5 to 1, there was plenty of knock. Thats whre the TXS base map put us. So we added tons of fuel and we are happy with it. Stay tuned for part two!!! Ray

one more thing, notice how long we stay in the 10% column. Man this car does nothing for the longest time then starts to go. My car logs 4-7 lines in the 10% and its off we go...... I also suggested he get the 272 exh cam. Ime not a fan of mix/match cams. And no, i cant justify why. Just seems like you want to let out as much air as you let in to me......Oh, and we did a few tests. The stock airbox runs 100-150Hz more air than the cone filter we have. Notice how erratic the MOD MAF signal is??? and how clean the first MAF is???? If we go back to map-0 they flip flop. The MAF is erratic and the MOD is smoother.....
