The red knob is for switching maps. You can download. 1.7 from Turbo XS and then upload it to the UTEC. The switch is for uploading the newest firmware. No CD. You need to download the UTEC manual and read it over and over again. It will answer all of your questions. Good luck. The UTEC is great but you need to do your homework to get the most out of it.

The manual for UTEC is a pdf file. Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. You can download it for free from:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.htm

Do you have a Wideband O2 reader? You really should invest in one before doing any tuning on your car.l

You'll need to download the Adobe PDF reader to use the manual.. once you download that you'll be fine.

The red knob is left at 0 when you use the map switch, so your on the right track.

If your holding the UTEC with the wiring harness end facing away from you, the switch should be away from you if I recall.. That should put it in RUN mode.

TurboXS really should label it, but the manual does explain everything you need so I'd recommend downloading and printing it, read through it a few times..

so i just read the manual and im still a lil bit confused about something. i want to download the lastest software from turbo xs site. So in the manual it says i should have two toggle switchs and i should set the toggle switch to the flash setting when downloading new software. I dont know which way the toggle switch should be, should it be switched towards or away from the female plugs when downloading new software??

On the back side of UTEC there's a hole with one switch only (at least mine is that way). I think the dip switches are on the WRX only. You only have up and down and if it's mounted in the car, it's a b1tch to operate the switch

I don't remember anymore but I think down is flash mode, up is normal mode.
If it's in the wrong position you won't be able to flash it...

Thats true.. also if your uploading maps if its in program mode it may not save changes.. If one way is troublesome, then switch it to the other position.. There's no dip switches just a toggle switch..

Yes, but you will have to add about 10%-20% fuel across the board to compensate for the crappy gas, you should also pull 1 degree of timing from the timing map across the board until the car can be tuned..

Im going to be doing the tuning myself, Im just still doing alot of research and learning and finding where I should start from.

Cali sucks for the junk gas here.
