06 IX MR Mod Suggestions Needed

Guys,

I tried a search but didn't really find what I'm looking for.

I am a new Evo owner (2006 MR - Graphite Grey) and am considering intake, exhaust and flash mods. I know there are a lot of options out there but being new to the Evo family I'm not sure which fits my requirements best.

90% of the time the Evo will be a daily driver for me. I enjoy driving very fast cars, however, I am not interested in racing every tom dick and harry who pulls up next to me. I just want a good, reliable, warranty friendly performance kick in the a$$. I know the evo is very mod friendly and the initial bang for the buck is fantastic.

A few times a year I will take the car to a local race track for a day of fun. Nothing too competitive, just a chance to beat up on M3's and Porsche's.

Looking for suggestions from the experts (that's you I hope) on the best bang for the buck on a reliable set up.

Thanks

Any 3" exhaust works fine just figure out how much you want to spend, what sound you are looking for, and how lightweight you want. Do you want full turbo back is another question you need to ask yourself. Stock intake box is good to about 400 hp but if you want you can throw in a flat panel filter like K&N or Works. Al at Dynoflash is reputable but do some searches and figure out what tickles your fancy. Lots of info out there you just need to search!... Good luck!

+1 I have only have a cat-back and have run consistent 12.1's and a best of 12.07. Give Jarrod or Nick a call at www.BuschurRacing.com. Their customer service is top notch too. Most-wanted recently ran a 12.09 with his '06 and a similar setup on pump gas.

I think scrap the intake. Get yourself a downpipe, hi-flow cat or cat delete, cat back, a reflash or an exede (vishnu's piggy back), and if you really want to go crazy alcohol injection.

That should make some pretty good power. The engine management and alcy probably aren't really warranty friendly but that's where you'll pick up some good power.

dont take any simple quick advice from people here, be patient, research a little, check out the EXHAUST thread for all the possible exhaust options out there before you buy one that someone simply just "told you to get"
but like people said above, no nead to get intake as one of your first mods, dont getta different BOV and dont vent it to the atmosphere as this will give you only problems,
and tuning will be important to get the most power out of your mods

Thanks for the info guys.

I was hoping to learn about one or two systems (intake, exhaust, flash) that provide the best performance for the buck. I

think what I'm learning is that they are all good, and all about equal, it just depends on personal preferance for one company over the other and preferance for desired sound.

Is that a fair conclusion?

Go my route and you will not make any more power for less money. I can almost assure you that.

a MBC will void the warrenty. losing the cat will void the warrenty. ecu reflash will most likely void the warrenty if found.

I would recommend keeping you car stock (maybe going as far as a TBE w/ cat and a K&N panel filter) and enjoying the car in stock form. If you learn "how" to drive the evo, you will have a lot more fun than just having way too much power and on the verge of control. If you're not going to race the car, I wouldn't see the need to make silly amounts of power that you're not going to be able to approach using to the limit on the streets.
