Dyno Sessions (experiences, tips, Pics)
Dyno Sessions (experiences, tips, Pics)
Just as the titlle says. I thought a thread like this would help those new to the engine testing and tuning seen better understand what goes on in a test facility while tuning a car on a dyno (especially turbocharged Mitsubishis!). I am especially interested in shop photos, techniques used to sort through the tune up while testing, and generally your experiences and how you felt your time and possibly money was spent whether you rented and tuned yourself(especially this) or you paid a pro to tune. My first run involved a bored 2.0L B-series Honda, that ended up making 240 hp on pump all motor, it was tested on a dyna pack, using Hondata. The cams I used and compression ended needing the VTEC engagement point turned down to like 2750 rpm just to keep the thing from detonating, the thing ended up making most of it's peak torque by 2350 RPM and was an absolute monster in the CRX it was installed in. I know it's a Honda, but I'm an engine builder, and lately have felt that I can no longer really call myself that without also being able to run and tune the things. So. I am also looking for some guidance. I have read a lot, and talked to a lot of guys but it's not all clear. In the near future, tuning schools, and trips to dyno faicilties will help too, for now... let's see what you guys have to share.
Thanks in adavance.
