I have just got my ECU+ & have fitted it to my JDM Evo 7. The JDM 7 is the same as the US 8 with the exeption of the body styling. The plug & play ECU+ fitted in stright away & I connected the PC & I started logging in under 30 mins, great stuff.
The car itself is nearly stock, with only an HKS cat back exhaust & K&N drop in filter. It is run on Shell 98 RON Optimax, I don't know how that translates to US fuel, but its generaly accepted as the best in the UK.
The log file is the second run I did & all were pretty much the same. The screen shot shows the actual 3rd gear pull. This is at about 84 seconds. It all looked as I expected, except that there is alot of knock voltage just over 4000 Rpm. I don't think it is detonation, but wonder if its a rich miss fire, as the car feel a bit flat at higher revs.
Any sugestions or comments greatfull recived.

How much boost are you running? What I find very interesting is that your car is running like 26 degrees of timing at 7k RPM. That's quite a bit of timing. It's around 6200 RPM and your car just starts advancing like there's no tomorrow. I think the most my EVO8 runs is 21* at 7k rpm. You really want to invest in a Wideband O2 sensor to tell how rich or lean your car is running. The factory o2 sensors are junk.

I am running stock boost, which I think is about 14psi on a JDM 7. It does feel a bit flat between 6 & 7k & I guess that is is as rich as most stock cars seem to be.
I have an LC1 wideband, which I plan to fit, when I add the 3" exhaust system I have in the garage. Right now I'm getting use to the features of the ECU+ & maybe be do a little safe tuneing this week.
I have looked at the 3 pulls I did today, they all seem to got to 25 deg advance at 7k. I suppose it could be because the car is a JDM, which maybe tuned for thier 100 octain fuel, this though, is just speculation.

Honestly, I don't know if you'll get much input here.. as we never got the VII in the US. The VIII seems quite a bit different.. in terms of stock boost levels and timing. I tuned my evo to an AFR of around 11.4:1 on 93 octane. Shell 98 RON Optimax is roughly the equivilant of 92.6 octane here.. so same as our 93. (except you pay way more
although ours is around $3.19/gal now)
My car picked up a ton on the mid and top-end after I tuned with with the ECU+. Even if your stock ECU was tuned for 100 octane gas.. you would think it would pickup the knock and retard the timing.. not advance it. I did notice around 5400 RPM your ecu did pull timing.. possibly due to knock.

Are you sure the Evo VII only runs 14 psi of boost? I would think it would be more than that.
Get yourself a good wideband O2 sensor (we'll send you one if you like!) and you can extract some good power from it, I'm sure.

No I'm not sure that the strandard JDM7 runs 14 PSI, but I would doubt it is over 18psi, I'll know more when I get the MAP sensor.
I have an LC1, suppiled by Mach V ! Just a question of getting the adaper bug welded in, on my new down pipe.

The 7 runs the same boost level as what you see here .. approx 1.3bar tapering to 1.1 bar at 7000rpms (if you have not installed a boost controller yet)
Your timing is about the same as mine (I see closer to 30degrees advance at 7500rpms !!
I have seen lesser 4g63 pull timing at 2volts knock value .. but I have yet to see mine pull timing until much pass 3v .. maybe you like to set the knock value to instantaneous than peak and hold .. think it'll scare you alot less

Once you fit up the WBO2 .. go ahead and tune to what is recommended here .. around 11.4-11.6 AFR .. I've tuned to 12.3 AFR before.. but didn't see much increase in power .. also check which gear you tune in .. as any gear before the tuned gear (ie if you tune in 4th gear .. then 1st 2nd 3rd) will be about 0.5 points leaner ..the richest you'd go is about 10 AFR depending on your ECU
I tune mine in 2nd gear for 11.8 and my 3rd is like 11.2 .. 4th and 5th is 10.9
but my 1st gear is like 12.5
