Another PFC IGN tuning.

Hey guys, (and PaulR33 :P)

Have a PFC on my 7 which is sweet, pulling 220wkw with good afr's from previous owner.
Just that the map is a bit 'knocky' on 21psi. It usually hovers between 10-30 counts.

Pulled the whole IGN map back 1 deg and did a few more 2nd and 3rd gear pulls and it was alot better with knock hovering around 10 deg and max of 15 deg from 2500-6000rpm, however as soon as the revs go past 6k, it clips 60 counts.

The AFR's are fine, but just a little too much timing is wound in I suspect.
I am halfway through putting my IGN and INJ maps onto a excel spreadsheet to manage better, but atm anyone know what area to look for when the throttle is buried?

I would log some runs and see at what RPM you are hitting the 60 count and try pulling timing from there. If you pull a few degrees and it doesnt help then its probably some other noises triggering the knock like an exhaust rattle or what not.

Its 6krpm or a touch over....knock meter is quiet as a mouse with 15-20 counts or less in most cases on 22psi until 6k, then it goes mental.

What is your timing in those cells? I was fine running 18 degrees in the same area.

yeah as the others have said just review the logs and youll find out exactly where its knocking. if you have datalogit then its easy do basic knock watch on the map and away you go. if you dont, get a friend in the car, get them to watch map tracer and you yell out when you see the engine check light flash (knock over 60) and make sure your friend marks what cell it was on in the map tracer screen

Righto, I had some testing down the freeway last night with 2nd and 3rd gear pulls on 22.5psi, knock hovering around 15 in the upper rev range with a burst of 22 here and there...

Rang the guys that tuned the car and that said anything under 30 counts on full noise is fine and not to worry.

I'll write the ignition table down and post it up to see... Will be easy to edit it that way.

Not on PFC it isn't...its scaled different to others.

EG: Mates 33 GTR, 4th gear pull on the dyno, with the det cans on there was no audible detonation, however the PFC handset was still ~10-25 counts around 5k+ rpm.
