MAF sensor removal with TurboXs Utec?

Hello!

I have a little situation.............. My MAF is broken........I aslo have a Utec, and I've read you could eliminate the MAF with the HELP of the Utec....... But how would I go about doing so? Can it be bone by changing anything the Parameters, or do I have to buy any additional parts? . . . . . And finally- I know It's a matter opinion, but....... Is the Utec a decent tunning device, or.......... Is it garbage?! Mine came with the car, but I'm hoping it's not a total loss!

Thanks!

I don't know who told you that the UTEC can run without a MAF. The UTEC for the Subies and other models can run Speed-Density, but not the EVO. You can get a MAP sensor for the UTEC but it only uses it as a load reference. It would be nice to have Speed-Density on the UTEC as we were promised by Turbo XS. I've been waiting for it for 2 years now but they seem to have dropped the support for the UTEC for the EVO. It's a shame because it's fast, easy to tune and reliable EMS . Heres a link for the UTEC owners manual. http://www.turboxs.com/evoutecupdate.htm

..............................

Thanks for the info man.......Well it's a shame TurboXs has forgotten about "Utec Users".......... I've messed around with the Utec just to Eliminate the CEL, and for the Launch Control, but I like it.......... It's just that I'm about to get tuned after installing a Meth kit, so I was wondering what was my best option...... Tuning the Utec or a Reflash...... And I got the idea of eliminating the MAF with the Utec from here: http://www.hopupracing.com/tuutevovi.html ....... I guess I just read it wrong?

If you like the Utec and you need to have multiple maps for different fuels or boost control stay with the UTEC. If not have a tuner flash you for No Lift To Shift and mod up your Rom. The NLTS works just like the UTEC for flat foot shifting. Buy a Tatrix cable to Flash or log through the OBD port and do it your self there is plenty of support on here to answer any ECU question. If you go through some of the old UTEC post on here about people trying to run MAF less with the MAP sensor only you can read through all the problems they had. I thought about it myself but it was to risky for me. It seems to have some air density problems and where I live density fluctuates bad. If you want to go MAF less buy a MAFT Pro or wait a while the ECU flash guys are working on a stock ECU with speed density.
