need help with exhaust
is there a specific place to look to find out the kind of exhaust i have? i looked under my 03 evo and its not stock, u can tell. and the car came from cali and im in WA so i cant contact the previous owner. so is there anyway to find out what kind of exhaust it is?
Most common place to look for clues is on the rearmost muffler some e.g. Perrin will actually say Perrin on them, while others e.g. Buschur will use a generic Magnaflow performance muffler or bullet style can with their own mandrel bent tubing. Other things that can give clues are how it fits together e.g. all sections bolted together vs. slip fit clamps vs. V-band clamps.
To be honest, as long as the piping is 3" from the cat back, and you like the tone and noise level, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Looks like a downpipe and some sort of hand made exhaust is installed. Can't tell if the cat is real or fake. Also can't tell if mandrel or crush bends are used. If that's a real cat, you can pick up at least 10 whp by replacing it with a test pipe.

If its a piece of straight pipe with heat shields welded onto it, then its definitely fake. If there is a bulge in the tubing under the heat shields, then it could be real. The only way to know would be to take it off and look inside.
That's some custom crap with a random muffler on it.
A custom exhaust would be fine but that one is a hack job. Too many welds, too many random exhaust pieces thrown together, poor craftsmanship, crappy welds, and the mounts are straight garbage.
Sorry mate.... you need to buy a new one or take that thing to an exhaust shop and have someone with some since give it anouther go. It honestly looks like a do it your self driveway job.
