fc tune

anyone want to take alook at my buddies map. we did some road tuning today an everytime at 5k rpm the car would stutter (like fuel cut) Im thinking he is hitting fuel cut, but there is no way to tell since he doesnt have a wideband. Knock levels are below 10 in the 4800-5300 range.
t67 turbo, hks 272, cam gears (0,-4 i think it was) and all the a other mods for spport. also running Okada plasma direct with 24gap plugs.
Said he was running 26psi, and had to lower it to 22 and still haveing that issue at 5k rpm
any ideas??

sounds more like a cam angle sensor failure to me than a fuel cut.

if it was that, it would happen earlier in boost right?? We both have pretty much the same setup, and i am trying to match his setup, and it seems that mine goes really lean at full boost. but i also think i have a fouled plug. Will get it changed today and post more information.
He also has O2 feedback off, and my car runs like crap with it off so i leave it on.

Whats is the F/c1, F/c2 setting for ?
his is setup at 5000, where mine is 1150.

Did u use CDI with your Okada plasma, i have similar issue with I use HKS twin power with my COP, after use back to Standard Coil the problem solve. which mean HKS twin Power can't mix with COP, need to use M&W with COP...

well we first started he had the stock coils in, and says plugs are good (gap at 24)
after a few pulls (5-10) we pulled into gas station, and I thought it could be ignition problem. so we pluged in the Okada Plasmas. Didnt have any other ignition boxes hooked up. Just the okada's
He tried a friends HKS twin power and had the same problem's. 4800 sounds like missfire, or fuel cut. Maybe running lean up top and blowing out the plugs.

i tried his tune in my car, but i have a foul plug so didnt get the same result. in my car its fairly rich down low, and leans out alot up around the 4500-5000area. will post update after i put new plugs in.

It should not be a fuel cut as far as I know the power fc does not do this Sounds like an ignition problem to me. Also when the problem happens does the diagnostic light come on? I had a problem like this in a VII the TPS was playing the fool and when the problem happened everything would cut.

If the map is in FC EDIT send me a copy and I can take a look. You need a wideband.

alright so we figured out what the problem was. He had solid lifters installed, and something broke alose inside of the head, and wrecked one of his lifters. Completely dead!!
didnt know lifters could cause this. He put in stock lifters and got up to 7k no problem.
thanks for the inputs guys.

also got a WB and was running really rich across the board. (13.4 at Idle, and 10.2-10.5 at WOT.)

thanks for the help maurice. i put in used hydraulic lifters from a buddy cause there was no new ones in hawaii and i was trying to get tune. it got to 7000 and after that it would like almost shut down and sounded like a subaru. i got to like 6000 on the road a few days ago and it jerked foward and shut down but it started right back up. got new lifters and cams on the island now and will be installing them tomorrow. was just wondering if it could be something else or if it could still be the lifters which i hope it is. any imput? advice?

dont know why he had solid lifters with Hks 272's as these cams dont require them, are you sure they are HKS. that problem you are describing does not seem like a lifter problem. if you Can you log the car with datalogit and send me the file I can have an idea if the problem is in the map or with a sensor. Are the injectors going 100%?

BTW you should not have o2 feedback on, this is only for light load cruising and I find it can interfere with the map, most people leave this off. 13.4 at idle with the hks cams is perfect however 10.5 is way too rich and could be causing the injectors to max out up top. back up some fuel and see if the problem goes away. you should run about 11.5 for safety without meth.

No his injectors arnt hitting 100% he is running RC1000cc. We have the same setup (except turbo) and i know mine arnt anywhere near 100%.

I ll try turning O2 feedback off on my map and see how it runs. Right now we are running the same map, just to see how my car would react. I have NO problems with Boost, Injector, or Ignition problems with this map. I modified the map abit for me, but i will run the exact map that he had problems with.
He should be able to get up to 8k rpm with his mods.
Saltydog PM me your email, and i will get you the map we are running. we are also meeting up this sunday for some more tuning and stuff.
