utec boost control or ebc?
Well I just picked up my utec today and will probably install it this weekend.
Maybe this should be a no-brainer since I do have a blitz sbc-id boost controller sitting in my garage that I used on my previous wrx. Just wondering if most people like using an aftermarket boost controller (ebc in this case) or just use the factory solenoid and use the utec to adjust boost levels.
Your thoughts.

Boost control is part of the UTEC, it uses the stock solenoid and bleeder system, it comes with an ABC that allows you to raise the boost levels higher.
I also have come up with a possible solution using a GM boost solenoid to replace the stock solenoid and use as a closed loop system.. But I haven't tested it yet. I was also plumbing an MBC in parallel with the solenoid as a safety, but discovered my MBC has a small bleed hole that may affect if I can use the MBC with it or not.
IT does not come with a solenoid.. But there's some rumor that you will be able to purchase an upgraded solenoid to replace the stock one some time in the future...

Thinking about the same thing. I have a BLitz SBC-ID as well. You think the EBC would work better than the bleed valve the utec comes with. Should i sell the EBC and get that new DTEC or use the blitz in my car?
I was thinking of using this becuase i can never get the boost where i want it. I tried to get it to 24 when i was at the track using c16 but it would spike to like 24 and go to 21. On the street it spikes to liek 22-23 when i shift sometimes and falls to 18-19 by redline. You think maybe its a Blow off spring problem. Im running the forge with the blue spring in it.

My thoughts are similiar to subievolved.
How well does the stock solenoid work or hold boost?! Yes, the utec allows you to adjust parameters for boost...which is fine. But since I already have an excellant ebc and dual solenoid I figure why not use it. I'm sure it holds boost better than the stock solenoid.

It holds fine, but a bleed system (any kind of bleed system) seems to be more weather sensitive than a restrictor system..
The big difference is that your using boost control that is integrated with the rest of the system, so different maps can have different boost levels and the relatioships of boost curve to fuel curve. Something simply not possible with using a MBC or EBC...
There is an alternative, and that is to use a GM boost solenoid in place of the stock boost solenoid and converting from a bleed system to a restrictor system. See my other "GM Boost Solenoid" thread.. I'm fairly certain turboXS also will have a solenoid kit (call them and find out) to upgrade the stock solenoid.
I understand exactly where your coming from though, I have an S-AFR that I have never used.. Bought it, wired it in with my S-AFC into my Field Harness.. and the entire setup is sitting in a box.. I've never even entertained the though of installing it since I got the UTEC.
But.. Just so you know, I do get decent boost, I can spike to 23psi and drop to 18-19 at higher RPM, you can raise that higher RPM by using the ABC to bleed off a bit more signal and you can maintain 20psi through redline. The big issue is the vacuum source you use, it has to provide enough of a signal and be tolerant of a controlled vacuum leak (the ABC and rest of the setup)

Thats a good point about the map switching and fuel and boost curves linked. I think I will start out with the bleed system that comes with the utec and see how I like that with the stock solenoid.
I was using the sbc-id and power meter id on my wrx and loved the two together. BUt I didn't have the utec but Ecu-tek which is a ecu reflash.
