Has anyone seen the new Motec plug-in ECU for Evo's?

Check this out!! Direct plug-in for the Evo's harness! I heard it is only available for the Evo IX, but Motec's website says available for the Evo's 4-7, and US Spec. Evo 8 is in production.

Check it:

it fits in the stock location. don't know if it is worth the extra bucks but it is a nice feature.

How much do they run?

what i was told by an authorized MoTeC dealer for the US is that the non-US ecus are different & so they have had trouble with the US version. it would be easier to get the standalone units that they sell.

at most you would need to swap some pin locations. i dont think your source is thinking out of the box. i do a lot of custom efi solutions, where sometimes we use ecu's from different generation engines to older generation cars, something like this is a cake walk.

plus people have installed AEM's on non us Evolution 7's, people have even run the EVO's on DSM ecus. This is not an insurmountable problem to people who specialize in this field.

here is a custom pnp harness i made for my M800 universal ECU.

rest assured i did not buy this stuff to have it not work.

i know the universal M800 can be wired in but there is also the PnP ecu for evos based on the M800 that motec says they are working on for the us cars. that ecu fits in the factory location.

your setup is very nice & clean though. how much power have u made with the motec by itself???

the lower picture is of an EVO 8 pnp unit. It was configured to my USDM EVO 8 from motec austrialia.

i tuned the m800 to 604 whp on my racecar. no current numbers on my EVO 8 just yet. still in the process of picking up all the parts.

how difficult was that to do?? i am really interested in this option... can u PM a price to me for duplicating that PnP??? would i need a tuner or can i self tune using a laptop?

tuning motec is about the same difficulty as tuning an AEM. but to set it up properly (configuring sensors/outputs and making from scratch a basemap) is what really requires technical expertise.

lucky for you the pnp is preconfigured and comes with a basemap for the EVO. let me make a few phone calls and see whats the current price.
