tight have a friend with a suby and he loves the cobb access port, when is it for sure avaible for the evo?

elhalisf Aug 9, 2006 08:28 PM

wow, that looks much smaller and much better than my brothers sti access port

Quack Aug 9, 2006 08:31 PM

should be coming soon. i heard (from a reliable source) about the Evo AP's (& 2nd Gen AP's) back in Feb.

EvoBroMA Aug 9, 2006 08:38 PM

yeah more importantly whats the price point? with ecuflash for free, i would think the price and feature set better be competitive.

MattH25 Aug 9, 2006 08:46 PM

Looks (asthetically) way better than the STi unit

That is awesome, I have been hearing rumors for awhile and it is good to see some progress being made.

trinydex Aug 10, 2006 02:17 AM

glad ecuflash is out...

honda-guy Aug 10, 2006 05:03 AM

need more specs on the unit. i'm not familar with COBB.
can you store multiple maps on the unit and reflash the ecu once you get to the track?
can you reflash ecu using maps create in ecuFlash?

this might be a good option for someone like me who wants to flash but don't really want to carry a laptop around.

Hopefully the Street Tuner software for the Evo won't be far behind. I like the system for the Subarus.

the AP is a map transportation device & has maps in a specific format, so you can't use the ECUFlash maps.

with the Cobb AP, you reflash your base map, then there are a series of real-time maps that you can flash. like a 93oct pump map, then get to the track and switch to a C16 w/ meth map and should take a few seconds.

another situation that i know this would be helpful is if you run alky, and you run out/get low. you don't have to find a supply, you can just switch the map.

also when the ProTUNER software comes out, a tuner that has stage parts can create maps to go with those parts and send the map to you instead of sending your ECU in to get flashed.

you can get more info on the AP:

that's a bummer, you can only use proprietary maps for AP. are there any open source software that will allow you to edit maps for AP?

Brian Aug 10, 2006 08:22 AM

Nothing opensource afaik, but the protuner and streettuner will allow you to have custom maps made.

With subarus cobb has had a few 'base maps' that they've provided for a few different setups on different cars.

Quack, we already don't need to send our ECUs anywhere. We can have as many maps as we want with quick reflashing whenever we want for no charge other than the $90 cable. If people can tune themselves with this (street tuner?), then it may be viable, but they also may have to lower the price significantly to compete with EcuFlash, which has no price point.
