Precision 6262 WOT's with log inside, Opinions?

I have finally gotten speed density working on my car. Switched to a forward facing 6262 and SD all at the same time so it was brutal starting from scratch and having really nothing to go by. This is the first time using Ecuflash/Evoscan with Speed density for myself and my friend who is helping me tune the car so it took a whole lot of researching on the forums to figure out how to log kpa, add the correct values in evoscan, etc.
All my LTFT's and cruising stuff seems to be dialed in (normally within -/+ 2% on low and mid LTFT's so we moved onto WOT pulls today. Started at wastegate pressure and worked on the AFR's and then upped the boost a little at a time while monitoring AF's and making changes to the RPM VE and MAP sensor VE tables. Boost has been turned up to 30psi, No knock throughout the pulls. The only knock I seem to be getting is on tip in throttle before I am even in boost (which has been annoying) I know every car is different, but I'm hoping someone with lots of personal experience can take a look at my log and give me an opinion on if I should raise the boost above 30psi. I'm also not very positive on what these cars really take for max timing usually with larger turbo's on 93 octane. I have some dyno rental time scheduled for Thursday where I plan to really dial in the WOT air fuels and timing. My af's are around 11.0 - 11.4 right now and peak timing is 9 degrees. Should I tune a little leaner? How much timing at peak is typical on a 6262 on 93 octane? My VD hp estimates (using Mustang dyno perimeters) have shown anywhere between 400-420hp thus far. The dyno i'll be fine tuning the car on Thursday is a Mustang dyno. I'm hoping to be able to make close to 500whp. Assuming my current estimates on VD are accurate, and taking into consideration the type of timing and afr's I'm tuned for at the moment, do you think 500whp will be reachable come Thursday? I would probably try spinning it out a little more than 7000 and see if you can chase a little more power up there when you get on the dyno.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should safely rev it with HKS 280s on stock springs? Maybe 7800? I've read some threads of people revving stock valvetrains between 8000-8500, but not sure I'd be comfortable taking it that far. |
Yea that is the same info I found. I suppose just watch for power to dive as that would be an indication of valve float.
Based on what I found I would feel comfortable starting at 8000rpm as a limit and testing the water up to 8500. |
I think your afr and timing are good and would not go leaner. My opinion is purchase some springs/retainers so you can safely rev higher and enjoy the power of the turbo. What is your duty cycle btw?

My duty cycle is about 67% at 7k rpm...surprisingly. I was expecting it to be a bit higher given my injectors and fuel pump

Got it on an actual Mustang Dyno tonight. Naturally we get hit with a heat wave when my dyno time is scheduled. It's 90+ degree's here and extremely humid so it was the worst possible conditions to try to make power.
The car made 445whp/353wtq. Intercooler was heat soaking, started getting a few counts of knock by the end of the night, and pretty sure my sparkplugs ended up fouling by the end of the night. I guess the car did pretty well given the circumstances. 30-31psi, 9 degree's of timing up top. (Revving it out to 7800 now) Injector duty only goes as high as 70%. I think those numbers are right on par for a mustang dyno and considering the weather as well. I really like the setup and hope you enjoy the power. Your platform certainly has more in it shall you decide to increase the boost/build the block/ raise rev limit/upgrade the fuel system.

It was about 20 degrees cooler here today and the owner of the dyno was nice enough to let me strap the car down again at no cost tonight. Initially the car made slightly less power. We tried adding some timing but the car did not like it and it would start knocking. We ended up making the air fuels richer and then added a couple of pounds of boost. It seems the car likes boost over timing because upping the boost did not cause any knock where as adding timing even with the lower boost level induced knock. The car ended up making 458whp/364wtq. I could have pushed the envelope and upped the boost and it probably would have made even more power, but I decided not to push it any further. I did not feel comfortable running any more boost.
