Question Need help w/ front Tein Springs install

hi gruppe-s... I purchased a set of tein s-tech springs from you guys...for a great price i might add... and i took your advice to save some money and install it myself. Well, i finally got to them today, and damn those lower bolts are so hard to loosen. I got the bolts for the rear loose using a baseball bat for leverage, but i couldn't crack the front lower 19mm bolts loose and i can't use the bat like i did for the rears...

My question is... can i bring the car to you guys so that you can break the bolts loose? Or would it make more sense for you guys to do the entire front install? How much would it cost to install the front springs? I really don't want to, but would it be more economical to just purchase an air compressor and finish off what i started?

Also, if anyone knows a good way to give me more leverage, i'd be really appreciate it. thanks... Vic

find a pipe that will slide over your ratchet, the longer it is, the more leverage you will get. or get a long breaker bar. they are not very expensive

oh yeah i also forgot....PB blaster penetrating lubricant. let the nut soak with that crap on it for like 10 minutes then try it. that stuff usually gets the job done

good luck

You know what bro? I think you don't have tools or the skills for the install. Please take it to gruppe-s if possible. All of the bolts in the suspension are Torqe to spec. You need to put it back together right or it could get ugly. I totally respect you for tring to do it your self
. Good luck man. I'm totally not trying to flame you. Take care.

I agree with RAZ90::: yep, they are pain in the *** BUT when you get some long pipe, its easy - just dont hit your fender - i used the pipe from Car Jack also PB Blaster is the main spray for DSM'ers :_

I actually did pick up a couple cans of PB blaster since i had to make a trip to kragen to pick up a 17mm box wrench...I still couldn't get it loose. As for the post, you may be right about not having the tools (I'm using a generic set i bought from costco a while back), since i stay at a home that i rent during the week and all my tools are at my house up in the bay area...I'm actually using the emergency trunk jack since i don't even have a jack here. (Please no lectures) As for skills, I'm sure that if i can clear out my own headlights, then i can do this. i have done a few suspension installs on hondas and vw's... Just never ran into any stubborn bolts... Sorry if it seems like i'm trying to defend myslef here...it just hurts to see that someone thinks i'm a newbie. I guess i deserve it, i'm a little embarassed that i even had to post this thread. I attached a pic to gain a little respect... All work done myself... hks timer in clock area, safc in the cubby, blitz boost controller and power meter, perrin ss, and cheap deck.
Ok... I'll go find a breaker bar and see if i can knock it loose tomorrow... BTW...

Also, [B]gruppe-s Do you mount/balance tires at the shop?[/B

Thank you everyone for the help so far...

Do some push-ups, then attack the bolt like a rabid cheetah That bolt is a bi#@$, I used 2 sockets, one on each end, and twisted in opposite directions. I also used a small breaker bar on the righthand ratchet for more leverage, it will come loose if you swear at it enough

Forgot to ask... How many people have used an extension to break the bolts free? The reason i'm asking is because i was acutally standing/"jumping" on the ratchet and it still wouldn't crack loose... I had to use a bat between two ratchets to break the rears loose...

Hey Vicisousv322,

Did you get the bolt loose? If you need help, let me know.. I can probably lend ya a hand..
As we already know, the rear bolts are all torqued to spec, therefore to get it loose, you might want to use a torque wrench. Do not stand or jump on it next time! It will strip your bolt and threads! That will cost even more money, time and effort to repair!

Thanks

Cal
