Granted I should have done a better inspection of the car but the seller refused to meet me at his house. He wanted to meet me in a bank parking lot in 20 degree weather. He lied about his age and tried to pass it off that he was much older, lived on his own etc. I found out after the whole deal went down that he was 17 and his mom bought him the car. I drove the car, things seemed ok except for what seemed like a serious boost leak. I thought no big deal, I can fix that when I get home. 2 boost leak tests, an oil change and new spark plugs, I was still creeping, spiking etc. I removed the intake and found the issue. Over an 1/8" axial play and atleast a 1/16" radial play with carving in the compressor housing from the fins. Metal shavings in the UICP, etc. Full rebuild of the turbo was in order. Now I'm stuck replacing a turbo,install kit, etc. A 16k car turned into a 19k car pretty fast. No wonder the seller wanted to get rid of her so fast.
