He already did that, but it has softened up on him. He has a feeling the plates have worn some. I got the same feeling from mine before it went to TRE.

I would say try the Weir kit, http://www.weirperformance.com/maxgriplsdkits.html
I personally found the TRE 12 plate max lock to be too aggressive (lots of chatter) when I had one on a IX.

So, you bought a race car part and you're complaining about NVH...

"TRE has over 20 years of experience when it comes to setting up ring & pinions both import and domestic. TRE knows what it takes to make them survive the punishment of drag racing, road racing, autocross or just driving to work." http://www.teamrip.com/EVOLUTION%20R...20SERVICE.html
In fact, the description on TRE's site doesn't even mention chatter. Which it does, a lot.

everyone's different. personally, car interior nvh things bother me - rattles, etc. suspension nvh bothers me, mainly because i dont think there should be any if it's installed correctly.
for the most part, drivetrain noise does not bother me. like i said my cusco bangs violently in parking lots. i dont care. it's amazing for racing. if you're not racing, you don't need the TRE. you can get by with a restack for sure

On a side note, that reminds me: I'm surprised how many people buy race parts, put them on their daily, then complain about how "it rides bouncy", "my tires wear too fast/too noisy", " too much maintenance", etc. They sound like good ideas when they tell their friends ....Then the reality sets in. Like full roll cages, etc.
But I digress. LOL

Well you have tire manufacturers playing games with treadwear ratings, lots of coilovers with terrible damping, and tons of biased reviews from people who only sing the praises of whatever part they just spent their $ on.
TRE does good work. But their rear diff makes a lot of noise. I wonder how all the other high performance cars manage to make their rear diffs quiet. Think a Porsche owner would tolerate their car banging around the parking lot?
Hell even high hp Mustangs manage to put power down quietly.
