relocating the MAF sensor....

this has been talked about....but my question is....

putting the MAF(MAS, w/e it is) next to the TB would the temp of the intake effect how the car runs. im thinking having it before the Turbo it is just taking the outside air though the MAF, but after the Turbo and I/C the temp will be raised....will this effect how the car runs or possible damage the MAF cause of the pressure/heat??

You do NOT want it after the Turbo - it's not designed for the pressurized air, so you can damage it if you put it after the turbo.

Edit: After reading more, it sounds like you can put it after the turbo up to about 9 PSI, after that, then definately move it.

i have heard of some people placing it on the pressurized side of the intake after the turbo with some luck. I have never heard of anyone doing any damage to the maf, not that you cant get them for pretty cheap anyway. I say give it a try.

PM ryan bush if you want. He has it Just before the TB and he has had nothing but success. If anything having the Maf before the TB could help things a little. I would think the car would adjust accordingly if things got too hot. Of course nothing that would save from detonation, but at the very less maybe a little extra fuel? That is if you arent running complete stand alone to begin with...

And yeah, the general consensus is that once you start gettting past the limits PSI wise of stock internals you will be getting to the limits of the MAF as well. But anything up to 9 or 10 psi and the MAF should still hold up

well i was thinking about the pressure thing....the turbo is sucking in the air just as much as its blowing out?? pressure is equal on both sides of the turbo? so i dont think its pressure as much, but the hotter air coming though the I/C

The pressure won't be equal on both sides because the air that comes out of the turbo has been compressed/pressurized. There's a reason why RRM has the MAF where they have it. EVO's have it in the same place as well. If I were you, I'd just leave it where it is instead of trying to relocate it.
