Turbo!
With the amount of boost lancers run I don't think upgrading the intercooler is going to do a whole lot. Plus the Evo VIII intercooler requires a LITTLE customization to fit it in if I am not mistaken. (I could be wrong on all of this though)
hey shingen, i have an evo9 intercooler in good condition, if u want to do a straight trade i could likely facilitate that.
I would need pic's, and i'll send u some.

congrats man! my girlfriend likes to buy me stuff too.. but she wouldnt buy me turbo kit because she doesnt trust me in my slow lancer let alone a fast one haha. have fun, just one more lancer getting the FI treatment it deserves.
iufan4lifeul: I think the issue with the Evo VIII and IX FMIC is clearence... if I am not mistaken the Evo FMIC is thicker and hit the radiator fan but getting a slim fan will solve that problem.
I'll take pics and have them up tomorrow, as well as start a build up thread in the FI section. My goal is to do this install as cleanly as possible at the lowest cost possible.

Fox considering an intercooler goes in front of the radiator and a radiator fan goes in behind it I don't think an intercooler hitting the fan would be much of a problem

Aw man congrats. I remember when I first came on the boards a while back you were one of the first people to help me out. Glad to see your car is going in the direction you want. haha and congrats on the girlfriend who buys you a turbo. Mine is always bugging me about getting a stock exhaust

you have to take off the front crash bar to fit the evo intercooler.
By the way does anyone have a RRM install guide and parts list for a Stage 1 intercooled setup? They want me to pay 35 bucks, but I'd rather not. I got this far being cheap and I might as well stick to that game plan.

I am still debating on my turbo. I really want a turbo kit.
Looking at running 7 or 8 PSI
T-28 setup preferably
I already have a RRM header
Would really like to intercool
On a very strict budget
The RRM automatic non-intercooled kit runs $3300 which minus the cost of me selling my SAFC Neo would bring it close to $3000. If I decide to intercool wont MOST of the piping have to be fabbed again as instead of going turbo-throttle body it would go turbo-intercooler- throttle body? I guess I could get a used evo intercooled for $100 and throw that in their. I am using the stock front bumper but was wondering if I should remove that plastic mesh stuff at the very bottom to allow more intercooler flow.
Uhh, so many questions. I am hoping to purchase/install before the end of the month as I get a discount at the local shop. I also am going to change the trans fluid while I am at it due to me being an auto with high miles. I plan on using synthetic oil as well even though some people say that is bad for the motor/turbo?? WTF Synthetic is better in every possible aspect from cooling, to friction, to cold weather starts.
Any input on above questions is appreciated. My key is I want to do it right the first time.
