But, we've got good and bad news.....

Good News = We got the new plugs in and it works great. Other then it smokes alot when it has been at idle for a while and I hit the gas. (maybe because i still have about half a tank of low octane gas in it?????)

Bad News = We stoped working at it last night at about 1:30. This morning when we went back out to work on it again, my other car and Drucea's car had been broken in to. Iv got about $2100 worth of damage and stolen stuff and drucea is missing a window and radar dectector.

Adam (drucea) will be posting pics soon.....

Smoke is VERY bad. When and how much? where from?

also sorry to hear about your break in!!! OMG! i hate people like that!!!

What did they do to ur cars!! 2100$ is tons!

You are still comming to the meet right.??..

Alright picture time. I'll make a new thread for the pics of the break-ins.
All finished and running:

Jumping it to start up for the first time in 3 weeks:

Front end:

Intercooler with the bumper on:

Oil Pan tapped:

My favorite, the new Lancer 2.0T. I had been wanting to do this when I turboed my car, but Tim got there first, I was always curious as to why no one else has done this, I mean, Audis and VWs get to show their engine size.

OK, here's the bad, the smoke. I took some pics of it, and I have video that I'm uploading right now. I'll link to that in a minute. The smoke didn't smell like anything burning, or fuel, if that helps anyone out with what might be the problem. And this isn't the amount that normally comes out, it's a lot less, but if it sits for a while, hen we rev it, that much comes out.

So that's the main pics I got. What do you guys think. I think it turned out great, except for the smoke. I was surprised it started right up on the first try, no CEL or anything.
Our main concern now is that when driving and pushing it, at redline the boost gauge jumps to about 15 psi, which I know is bad, but I thought the wastegate spring in the RRM turbo was set to something like 7 psi, because when revving in neutral, it stops at 7 psi. Could that problem just be that we need a boost controller?
Then when driving and pushing it to redline again, it makes almost a slight grinding or scraping sound between high 4000 rpms and redline, when the boost is reading over 10 psi. I'm assuming thats the problem, that we are boosting too much. Any other ideas or ways to fix that noise?
And again thanks to everyone that helped, especially John (SpeedCorps), we definately needed it.

OK, on the video of the scratching noise, you can hear it only after you hear the first BOV sound, the last 5 seconds of the video. The BOV goes once, then it revs more and right before the second BOV, there is the scratching noise.

You wouldn't happen to have an oil pressure gauge, would ya? I'm curious to see how much oil pressure your running and maybe it's too much on the seals. I have seen this problem alot lately and I don't think it's a bad batch of turbos. Did you pull an I/C pipe and see how much oil was in there?

Did you have the little valve seat for the wastegate? this could cause the issue?

also check for collapsing vac lines.

But valve seat is a likely problem.

Is any smoke coming from turbo itself....

What was the condition of the turbo itself. Was there shaft play? oil seapage?

To me the smoke sounds like oil blow by.

What's considered too much pressure when at WOT at redline?
