Road Race 16G boost question?

I know not alot of people have the 16g kit. most have the t28 intercooled kit. i know the rrm t28 kits are set at 7psi. Whats the set PSI for you guys that are running the 16G kit?

I think the 16g6 has an 11psi wastegate. don't quote me on that. The evos have a boost controler to bump it to 17 (again don't quote me on the numbers).

Well i think out numbers need some revision. The tial wastegate that RRM uses is set to bar, and not to a set PSI. THe translation is a little rough to whole numbers. I think tial has a spring at about 3.7 and one at about 5.8 psi. So about 6 pounds is what the non intercooled runs at if boost is recognised at the intake manifold.

Edit here is some info on spring tension for tial wastegates.
BAR PSI DESCRIPTION O.D.
0.250 3.626 Small Yellow 1.875 In
0.400 5.802 Small Red 1.875 In
0.500 7.252 Small Green 1.875 In
0.600 8.702 Small Blue 1.875 In
0.700 10.153 Large Yellow 2.360 In
0.800 11.603 Large Red 2.360 In
0.900 13.053 Large Green 2.360 In
1.000 14.504 Large Blue 2.360 In

or you can get a Forge wastegate actuator with a 5-10 psi spring in it

Yes just so people know, the forge wastegate utalizes the internal flapper, but instead of having the set psi of the stock evo turbo, you can install available springs to acheive varying boost levels.

Good add LR45

i agree,
i have this actuator but im spiking. im not sure if it is due to the actuator, spring or flap. i guess some diagnostics is going to have to happen. once i find out what whats causing the spike i will let everyone know.

some guy sent this to me from the forum.

SPRING RATE GUIDE

38mm/41mm Wastegate
0.25 Bar - 3.63 psi - Small Yellow
0.4 Bar - 5.80 psi - Small Red
0.5 Bar - 7.25 psi - Small Green
0.6 Bar - 8.70 psi - Small Blue
0.7 Bar - 10.15 psi - Large Yellow
0.8 Bar - 11.60 psi - Large Red
0.9 Bar - 13.05 psi - Large Green
1.0 Bar - 14.50 psi - Large Blue

so if rrm claims the turbo says the wastegate is set at 7? does that mean the wastegates have a 7psi spring? i would think rrm installed the kit with a 5.8 or 7.25 unless im wrong.

i have the 16g kit. Im only boosting 6psi. ive hit 7 a couple times. BUt it was when it was really cold out, not sure if that will have an effect or not but generally 6psi is what i get.
