Please dont pay/take the time to install the new head or intake manifold only to have to remove them again in a couple weeks and cost more money by buying new fluids and gaskets.
I said that before because I was just gonna use the block currently in my car. I've got lots of 4G94 gaskets and parts I've accumulated over the years from the multiple engines I've gone through, so it wouldn't have been an issue. Plus it would've been nice to see and feel the gains after adding them. But, alas, the motor will be built and boosting 25psi once it's been broken in. Should make some nice numbers.

That really is more boost than a t3s60 will be able to really make. In the VW world, we have a 1.8L that runs 9.5:1 compression and it pretty much maxes out at 22psi and then there isnt much more in it. With a larger disp, it my be out of gas at 19-20psi

I'm switching over to a GT3071R so I can break 400whp. I posted that a page or two back. I'll probably hit the 330whp mark with the super 60 and then I'll be selling it with another ram horn manifold. The fab shop that did mine wants to start making them to order along with a few other parts.

Keep me posted. I'm currently working out what I want to get for turbo, parts, etc.

Or just update this thread. I'm subscribed.

Sup man...glad to see a fellow man from IL here...I am in naperville on the weekends so let me know if you want any help or jsut kick it. I would love to see your car.

You have really sparked my curiosity with the numbers you are putting down and the 5 lug conversion. I think my aftermakr rims have enough holes where they can work both 4 and 5 lug setups.

How much did those 5 stud hubs set you back? Also what rotors and mounts are you using in the rear? Ralliart?

Best of luck...I may have to come see your installer about my turbo needs later on this year

IIRC, the hubs were $120 each. All the components in the rear are for a Ralliart. I think my cost on parts is just under $1000 for the full 5-lug and rear disc conversion.

Hows that going anyways? are the front hubs for the ralliart as well? do you need to make any changes to the brake lines or the brake system ?

I was unable to do the swap today. I realized that I was missing some minor parts for the drum shoes. I ordered them from Mitsu yesterday, so they will be available next week for me to do the swap next Saturday. I'm still waiting on new struts and springs I ordered as well. I wanted to do all the suspension and the 5-lug and rear disc conversion at the same time.

The front hubs are also from the Ralliart. I was able to pick up the complete spindles with hubs and brakes still attached for $100 last summer. This way I can disconnect the lower ball joint and the strut from the spindle and swap the complete assemblies. Stay tuned...

Sounds good man...when you get done or in your free time can you list out all of the ralliart part numbers you are using so that we can PIN it somehwere for anyone who wants to do a rear disc conversion and 5 lug conversion on their own.

MR955066 RH caliper
MR249200 Rear caliper bolt (x4)
MN102171 LH parking brake cable
MN102172 RH parking brake cable

That's about it. I have brake rotors included in the list, but most people will probably opt to go aftermarket drilled or slotted. Same on brake pads. Also, don't go to Mitsu with this list and make an order. You will be killed on price. This is probably $2000 in parts. Be resourceful. If you have difficulty sourcing parts on this list then you probably shouldn't be performing the swap to begin with.

- spare trans is ready to ship to TRE for stage 2 build
- spare engine needs to be torn down so block can go to machine shop
- still waiting on rods from Crower, should arrive any day now
- pistons went back to Wiseco last week because they forgot the skirt moly coating
- need to call Mitsu today to order 2 tiny parts I forgot for rear disc swap
- Tein springs and KYB struts will be installed Saturday
- still need to order RRM stage 2 cylinder head
- manifold being shipped off to Jet-Hot this weekend for ceramic coating (7-10 day turnaround)

Everything is slowly coming together. It's been quite the juggling act addressing all of this at once and getting all the parts. My room is filled with parts just aching to be installed.

Also, I'm not sure if I'm gonna switch over to the GT3071r before winter or wait until next spring. I'm probably gonna wait until next spring so over the winter I can address other issues with my car, that as of now is pushing 160,000 miles. She's lasted me 5 years now and I want her to be able to run another 5 years. I was gonna install an AutoPower race roll bar this winter and freshen up all my bushings and various other parts. Still, with my current T3 super 60 maxed out I'll be pushing close to 275-285whp which is fine by me (for now).

UPDATE (sort of)...

Last Saturday I installed my Tein/KYB setup for suspension. The ride is pretty stiff. Everything needs to wear in over time. I also flushed my coolant system out and I'm running about 85% distilled water to 15% coolant with WaterWetter. My temps are at least 15* cooler and heat dissipation is much, much better than before.

This weekend I'll be in Vegas for Defcon, so no installs. Next Saturday I'll be doing my 5-lug and rear disc swap. I'm still waiting on my pistons to come back from Wiseco and rods to arrive from Crower. As soon as they do I'll be dropping everything off at the machine shop for prep and assembly. I think I'll hop over to RRM and order the head now. Stay tuned...
