Turbo Question

Alright I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but I've been looking and I just want a few answers...

I am going to buy the starter turbo kit from RRM ...and i need to figure out what else I am going to need, I just wanna do a non itnercooled setup just to get the turbo on and running correctly then upgrade from there..

1) What kid of fuel pump do I need to get?
2) What should I do about Injectors?
3) Custom piping? Mandrel bent? or does it matter?

If this is already listed somewhere let me know...
Thanks!!!!

Impatiently waiting to boost...

hopefully i get my fuel pump today.. 2g dsm walbro 255lp pump.. been waiting 20 days for my pump
you gonna need some gauges, at least a boost gauge and a manual boost controller you can make one for like 5 dollars.. you gonna need lots of vaccume lines and t's and a bunch of other stiff.. mtp tap to drill into oil line... and a bunch more im forgetting now..

best bet would be to get the kit and take it to a shop and have them finish it. would be cheaper/safer that way at least. you will need alot of things, and yes you need mandrel bends for your turbo pipes. not needed of course, but better to spend the extra money and get it now because you will want to upgrade it later on.

I by no means intend to sound rude or arrogant but if you are asking these types of questions: Your best bet is to order a COMPLETE kit and have a shop do the work for you that has experience in "charging N/A vehicles. It will save you time, headache, and money....perhaps even your car. Just some word of advice.

I know how to boost a car, thats not the problem, I've done plenty of motor swaps, and boosted a few NA cars, I am just looking for what most people have used. Not to be rude but just because someone asks a question doesn't mean they don't know what they are talking about. So instead of criticizing just help me out. Thanks a ton.

For one I was not critical...there was nothing to be critical of....you just asked a question. From the type of question it was it seemed...well like a newbie question. I have seen this same question asked about 20 times before, usaully by poeple that have no idea as to what they are doing. So to you I just offered advice. I see another poster "Boni" seemed to take the same standpoint as I did offering the same advice. When I see something worded like this: "Custom piping? Mandrel bent? or does it matter?" To me that is a newbie asking, but you yourself said you are not. I have no reason to disbelieve you. But eveyone does know (at least most of us" Go mandrel bent hard piping". Also stated before for the pump go with a 2g dsm fuel pump you can go with the walbro, they sale for about 100. You could aslo just use a stocker from a GS-T/x also this could save you a few bucks, your preference. For the injectors tho, I'm not too sure but the place you are buying the hack kit from could asnwer this question best I believe. What do you oplan on using for managenent to control the new injectors but Im sure you know this already. I have heard of someone on here usind the DSM injectors but I think I recall them being a bit to large (long) and the impediance was not correct. But like I said before RRM would be the best place to start looking for these answers concerning your injectors. I am ot sure if you stockers would be maxed out or not. I have no "real" experience with the boosting a lancer. As we all know every car is diferent.

Thank you Mobius, no hard feelings....and I understand it seemed like a newbie question, but i know several people who have used crimp bending for their turbo's and worked fine because they were running low boost, 5 psi...or so... Obviosuly you get better air flow with mandrel, but i am on a tight budget right now and i just wanna get my car boosted and running correctly then do upgrades from there...

You don't have to get the piping bent. You can buy bends and straight pipes and weld them the way you need them.
