stock injectors during boost STILL rich?!? guru's help
lemme start off by explaining the scenario: i'm having ripp put on there stg2 on my lancer right now. there are also doing a brand new tune for the kit because of there newest upgrades to the fuel system.
old fuel system: in take fuel pump rr fpr 310cc or higher injectors new fuel system: in line fuel pump rr fpr stock injectors and a supplimental atomizing injector right before the TB now with the old system, tuning was pretty straight forward but with the new system we are running into problems: you would think at high boost (10psi or so) stock injectors would flow and then you control the atomizer to supply the rest of the fuel (theoretically how it should work) however, ripp has found on my car at 10psi, the atomizer could flow little to no fuel so only stock injectors are flowing and it STILL runs super rich. really really rich, almost to the point that its not safe to drive long distances. no cel codes were thrown (except maf exceeds barometric pressure, which is expected) and ripp hasn't run into this problem on any of the other cars with the new fuel setup. it wouldn't make sense that our stock injectors (220cc or whatever they are) are running like 3xx cc's but they are. its speculated that perhaps the stockers can't hold the excess fuel pressure and are just dripping with fuel, but i don't know. this is also the first lancer they are tuning with the new setup, so there is a bit of a learning curve normally i'd figure "its there problem let them figure it out" but i really need my car back asap, so if anyone has any thoughts on the problem, let me know. i thought maybe someone has come across this problem before and found a solution. |
have them reinstall the 310's with the supplemental injector and see what happens :dunno: This is what you get for having too much fuel flow through that rail :lol:

yeah, that was my thought too, just get some low injectors. or we could just skip the supplimental injectors and go back to the old way which on stg2 was like 410cc or something

well, stock is 240, you've got some 310's lying around from the original setup (or don't you?). I'd give those a shot first then look to moving up.
But I don't know jack about FI fuel requirements. |
yeah, ripps got everything at the shop. going down tomorrow and hopefully help hammer some stuff out.
i would just say "screw it, slap in the 410's" but the reason for the new system is it reduces rough idle and all the other problems associated with running huge aftermarket injectors, so i would like to try and get this to work |
So Jay would you be going back to stage 1? Or is it stage 2 because it has a more aggressive tune?

no, its stg2 cause of the boost i'm running (10/11 psi). its not a question of taking steps back performance wise, it just comes down to the fuel setup configuration

specific details huh? yeah, i guess that would be useful, but alas, i have none :D
the problem could be 2 fold: first is the wiring could have been screwed up to begin with, they aren't really sure yet so they are double checking. second and probably most likely is that hte stock injectors can't take the added pressure on the lines. i want to say 80psi, but i really don't know, i could be making that up so the solution i hope that works is to slap on some 310cc injectors that CAN hold the excess pressure, then when boost raises extra fuel will be supplied via the supplimental injector. but at the same time you get a nice smooth idle cause you aren't running 410cc or something |
