MBC - I think i'm confusing myself
Ok so i bought an ebay regular old Manual Boost controller. I'm going with a 2 stage turbo XS in a short while when i get my SAFC and injectors installed so i can run 6psi on low and 8/9psi high, but for now im just gonna use the MBC to bump to 7psi. I got the thing in the mail yesterday and now i'm all confused about the install.
This is pretty much what came with my kit (mine is blue but its pretty much the same thing) http://www.auctionpicturesupport.com/ebay2/mk1mbc0.jpg So I thought i had a grasp on how to install this. I THOUGHT you just Tee the vac line coming from the turbo to the wastegate and put the controller itself inline there. But whats this extra 3way fitting for? I started looking at things online and other cars and whatnot have a vac tee in a BOV line or something and then one line goes to the intake, its way more confusing than i thought. Was this 3way Tee just an added piece of uselessness or do i need it? Should just the MBC piece go inlien on the vac hose from the turbo to the wastegate and thats it? I'm installing it tomorrow once i yank the turbo out of the car to replace the gasket between the manifold and turbo. |
suscribed. I wanna know this as well, I just got a Forge Unos MBC.

Um okay I'll try to give you a quick install...
Take off ALL the extra hoses, you should only have this: The Wastegate of the turbo into the outlet of the boost controller. The other side of the boost controller goes to a line, which then TEES in between your manifold and Blow off Valve. That's what the Tee is for. So there should be no other lines going anywhere. Since you have a NT car there shouldn't be any anyways :) |
So we plug up the original line that the wastegate vac line came from off the turbo? Cant you just use that as the vac source instead of tee'ing off the BOV line? Its practically the same signal isnt it?
|
Yes you could do that, but for some reason nobody does...

I heard the shorter the lines the better result in adjusting boost.

i believe the three way t connector goes between the line that is coming off the top of the wastegate leading to your boost source. put the T in so one end is going to the wastegate, another to the boost source, and the las leg should be hanging off. Now take the nipple that has no hose on it and put a hose on it, connect the other end of that same hose to the rear leg of the MBC(the one farther from the screw). the secong leg(closest to the screw) should have a short hose on (about one foot) and that hose just vents to atmosphere. Should look like this:
.................................................. .............wastegate............................ ...................... .................................................. .......................I.......................... ............................... .................................................. .......................I.......................... .............................. vent to Atmsph. ----------MBC-------------tee connector......................................... .... .................................................. ........................I......................... ........................... .................................................. ........................I......................... ........................... .................................................. ...................boost source........................................... |
