Amby's turbo
Ok I finally got around to opening the giant package Lancerguy'03 sent me to check out the turbo. It was very well packed (bordering on excessive  ) and everything seemed to be in tip top shape. At the moment I know I need a fuel pump, intercooler, (and intercooler couplers), oil tap fitting, spark plugs, piggyback, oil, and gaskets. Looking at the pics, can anyone see if anything else is missing/necessary?

damn man, i thought the day would never come for u, thats badass man.good luck.
Good luck bro. Keep us posted on what you need to pu that bad boy together and boost.
Looks like you'll be fine w/o any gaskets... It's pretty much all built for ya. Just swap out your stock exhaust manifold and stick that sucker in. Ofcourse, you'll have to modify your A/C for fitment
Wow, so you finally got the turbo huh? Good job! I hope I can spool up something soon...
Well I already have a header so that'll make the swap easier and I don't have AC so that's not a problem. For gaskets I was just going to get the manifold-related gaskets so I don't get a leak.
you're getting there...so are you gonna get the decompression gasket before dropping in the turbo or after?
After talking to Rob I'm just gonna use a piggyback to tune the car so I don't need a decompression gasket. Plus I'm not running high boost (only 5.8 PSI) so it should be alright, hopefully.

i am a noob by all means but shouldnt there be a blow off valve?
the second picture down shows the BOV( diverter valve) its the black plastic looking thing

I'm just using the OEM mitsubishi one, I can always upgrade later.
WOW, what an Odd manifold design, not saying it is bad, just like a full loop.
The Only thing I can say to do is get rid of that plastic BOV, it leaks and doesn't seal at all, just plastic on plastic. Get an OEM Evo IX BOV, all metal and it'll hold well over 20PSI. |
